Finally back in town and ready to kill some ducks. Has it been cold enough to start freezing over Mud Lake yet? Any advice on how to hunt it this time of year? Thanks.

Have ice in the Tannana, most of the lakes are froze up. Lows have been in the single digits since monday so it’s just about over. Time to switch to the layout boat and float the clearwater….

Cloudy, Heavy Fog – 35-40 Degrees
News Flash: Hunter and retriever almost hit by falling ducks! It seems that the hunter took aim at the leading mallard in a flock of ducks heading over them and two ducks fell with only one shot fired. One of the large ducks landed at the retriever’s feet and the other one fell towards the hunter missing him only by two feet! Hunter and retriever look at each other in disbelief! Great day hunting in the fog at the creek. 7 ducks including the double.

Well not a bad day, I hunted both rivers and the inlet, ended the day with a mixed bag of green heads and divers. Seemed to be more birds then recently. Hunted thursday with just bagging one green head and not seeing alot besides swans. The biggest problem for me is the birds aren’t moving a whole lot.
Suprised at the length of time the swans are spending here, normally they haven’t staged this long, I think were going on three weeks now.
Hows the activity down south?? Up here the mallards are still in pairs or solo. That makes me wonder what thats all about.
AKDUSE whats with you, killing all the birds and not saying anything. Read a report last week that stated the first major push in the pacific hit washington so was wondering what kind of activity you were having down there.
Hope everybody had an enjoyable wknd, I’ll be at it again come wed when I get off.

Slow day picked up 2 birds, not much flying other than swans. Expecting another push of mallards but with the temps holding as they are it might be a few days.
Good hunting to all
