Season 01-29-2007 21:21

Well I sure did not kill that many geese WOW. Real nice job.

If your killing on public land you must share some secrets to your success.

I had an OK season. No great days. Some frustrating ones, for sure.
.
My news pups are starting to get the hang of the game. They made some good retrieves but lost some that make me want to scream.

I will have to get them some off-season work.

I averaged a little better than a duck a day. Not many ducks around and poor shooting do not help.

Had a great time. I will start to count the days soon.

Need to fix all the things I broke and replace the things I lost.

Jackson County, Stevenson 01-21-2007 21:53
Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 40-45 Degrees
Hunted yesterday at Raccoon Creek WMA. Two guns and bagged three ducks. Did not see, but five ducks and when you shoot three of them that is not good.
OK here is another observation fact. From about 7:30 to 9:30 on Saturday morning we saw flocks of ducks sky high and headed north. Ducks were in numbers of 4, 12, 15 to groups of 30. So you tell me what that was all about. It’s about it’s over, stick a fork in it. Unless we have gadwalls and ducks move in from the south it’s over for this year. Another fact and observation, we went to the Stevenson Park and we did not see a total of 100 ducks of all species.
Also, I went to one of the big roost spots and where normally ~600 ducks there maybe 50 showed up for the roost.
OK, we are the ultimate optimist for duck hunters like today go in the rain and we saw maybe 10 ducks. OH well, whatelse do we have to do with all of that high tech expensive equipment to hunt these feather birds with. Got to go and use it for our better half will kick our butts if we do not use it after we order it and store it in the house 10 months of the year.
Good luck on the rest of the reason and take this like a man and don’t give up till it over and that’s next Sunday.
Be safe.
Ross

Jackson CO 01-15-2007 17:17
Mostly Sunny, No Precipitation – 60-65 Degrees
Well hunted Sunday Monday in Jackson CO.

Great fun but few ducks. Some woodies and Gads. Few mallards and other big ducks.

I would say we have less ducks now then in JULY.

Got a woody and gad. Lost a black duck , good swimmer. dog could not make it happen.

Saw a few geese.
