First day in the new pit. Lots of wind. Hard to get birds to commit with decoys blowing around. Shot three Canadas. Saw good numbers for early season. Mostly small birds.

The fat lady is warming up. Not alot going on. The river finally opened up so you can put out decoys but sadly not many ducks or geese around.

Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 0-10 Degrees – Ice
Had a very good week during Xmas and new years. Killed 18 geese and picked up 3 bands. Still very few greenheads. Been whacking the G-eyes and gaddies.

Things have really slowed down. The river has been too iced up and dangerous to risk putting a dog in it.

Hunted yesterday morning. Geese are slow coming out and then all at once. Flying high and know where they want to go. Took a 7th grader. Got his first goose. Need new birds from the north.
