You can’t have too many guns.

Just by way of example, in case of a zombie apocalypse, you want plenty. By the time you figure out zero hour has arrived, most of you good local gun stores will have already been looted.

As to the rest, mostly they aren’t good buys. Especially for me. I have sold exactly ONE gun over time; a Browning A Bolt with…[Read more]

I loved those old McCullochs. Even though I almost took a leg off with one once. Cutting a branch above my head, and at the time I thought saw chaps were strictly for pussies. Only ended up cutting 1/2 of a leg off my Levi’s, and scratching the skin. Gave me a new appreciation for torque and momentum.

  • wish i would have been smart enough to buy shotguns as an investment.
    never had a scooter i wouldn’t ride like i stole it, or a gun i won’t shoot.

had a chance to buy some old brownings from a bro-in-law in didn’t ’cause of the price.
dam sure could have tripled my cash outlay in less than 10 years. but i would have just wasted that cash like…[Read more]

It got down into the low 40′s last night. Had some even cooler air last week. Dove are pretty much gone. I am not sure about our local woodies and teal. I am hoping the wood ducks stick around. We open October 4th for ducks. The wife has to work so I will be reading reports and wishing I was out hunting. In a few years I will be taking the little guy.

  • buddy, makes ya wonder how the hell we have made it this long. still convinced the big dude upstairs smiles on assholes since i’m still here.

i did another dummy move the other day – whacked myself with the power washer. dam lucky it only took skin – not injected and i was on the sweep nozzle.

I pulled a similar stunt with an old table saw. I was building shelves for the garage at son’s house I moved to and was cutting a test strip to hang peg board. Had a short piece and grabbed the other end and the saw kicked and took a chunk out of my left index finger and slice of my thumb. I almost became the Cornbread of the South. Wasn’t enough…[Read more]

I painted my other house in Jackson also. Like you earth tones. A couple of Japanese are coming in on the 21st and will hopefully like it enough that their company will pay me $2200/mo. for them to live there for the next 2 years. Basically, I am house poor. Spent the last year and a half fixing up 2 places in Jackson, son’s and mine, and the 2…[Read more]

    i spent a couple of…[Read more]

    Hello, country bumpkin.

It snowed here Friday. 81 yesterday. We truly get some schizophrenic weather.

Nice. Teal hunting here was slow. The boys got a few but nothing to speak of.

Water at our swamp is down again — very surprising for all the rain we’ve had. The water table for our bottoms has changed drastically ever since they built a new bridge down stream of us — the water seems to empty much faster out of the creek and surrounding marsh areas.

  • I really liked my 1187 when it went bang. After a year it became nothing but a problem. The gun smith told me it was made on a Monday :) He did say he never seen one with so many issues. I will go back to one in a few years. I picked up a browning gold and I love it. It goes bang and it seems to hit what I am aiming at. I got it used for around…[Read more]
