Although I’m not a fan of face book I think it had a very minimal effect on this site. When the site was updated and was painfully slow is when the downturn happened. Members attempting to use the site were wore thin trying to figure things out while at a snails pace. Most just threw in the towel and moved on. Now it’s free and there’s less activity than ever. As far as the 40K members I don’t buy it. The fuge has less members, 33K, and posts are continuous. If this site truly had 40K members where are they? Go to the members section and look at the activity. What do all these supposed members do? Log in and log off? It lists becoming a new member an hour ago, 2hrs ago, 4 hrs ago but you never see them make one post after that. Memberships sell sponsorships. If you were going to sponsor would you pay a site that listed only ten active members?
I’m not sure what the solution is or if there is one. I don’t think we will ever see this site thrive like it once did.December 9, 2013 at 7:17 pm #7329
And a year from now we’ll see this in the classfieds.

That’s 5738 new registrants in the past month and a half. We still have 115,000 accounts to import
Well where is everyone at? Other than the lodge there hasn’t been a post on the other forums for a month or more. What are people doing, signing up then not using the site?February 26, 2013 at 11:24 am #4349
Many people are resistant to change. I for one am depending on what it is. The changes to the site in theory were new look, more user friendly, faster, etc. It does have a new layout. I don’t think it’s as user friendly as the old site and not much faster than before. I think there are several factors with the site which contributes to low activity. Time of year? Doubtful. How much more computer time can you get when it’s 0 degrees and blowing snow out. If you look at last duck season on the old site there wasn’t much activity then as in previous years.
Look at photos in the gallery. You don’t even know who posts them unless they put it in.
It’s a double edge sword. The origional members aren’t using the new site as much which leads to no new or informative posts. New potential members look at the site and don’t see much in the way of useful information. They visit a week later and see no new posts. Would you come back? No, you are going to continue your search until you find an active and productive site. You can look at the Refuge site which constantly has new posts.
It’s not good that a newbe comes on here, asks a question, then only gets a smart aSS reply from the village idiot. But it’s worse when they come on here and see no relevant, informative posts for days if not weeks. Inactivity is the killer.

We have them in addition to having an FOID card. Firearms owner id card. $10.00 for 10 year card. Not sure if any other state has them.January 17, 2013 at 11:56 am #2979

On a lighter note. I received a friend request from Kjnlog which I promptly accepted. Not that we weren’t already friends before. (insert smiley face here)January 16, 2013 at 8:58 pm #2941
Better buy them lunch. Maybe they’ll stay around. I think this site is harder to navigate than the old one. Not to many people taking to it yet.
