Posted By: Mark-Burlington WFC Sponsor Questions for Gundog 01-07-2005 23:59 – – – Gundog, My name is Mark Burlington, I currently live in Washington State. I am retirering from the Navy, and have spent a time working out at the base in Fallon over the past 20 years. I am a avid hunter, like yourself and am looking into several jobs in the Fallon area. I am also a member of WWA (washington waterfowlers Assoc) and a field editor for the web site. I have four labs and two english pointers, two of which were the mid atlantic region shoot to retrieve champions 98/99. I love to hunt and train dogs in my spare time. Can you tell me about the duck hunting in Fallon. Stillwater and so on. Would you recommend a move. I ask this because hunting is a very important part of my life. I can not… Continue reading

Where are the posts for Nevada or maybe there is only 1/2 dozen or so waterfowler.com members for the whole state??? Posted By: hunterox Guest Greenhead 12/1/04 12-01-2004 21:10 Cloudy, Heavy Fog – 25-30 Degrees – Ice Hunted for 45 minutes this afternoon after finding the roads at least out to the west to be rather muddy and slick. Be careful going out there! Found a pothole with some open water and had four different groups take a look. One group of mallards made it by without a shot. What a mess up on my part, but oh, well! Ended with one beautiful drake widgeon for 45 minutes of hunting in the fog and freezing temps. Does anyone read this anymore. Where is everyone that used… Continue reading

Posted By: Gun Dog Guest 10-21-2004 08:28 – – – Wow, with all of the weather, I thought that alot of guys would have been out hunting this week. No posts, I guess every one has to work for a living like me. I am going nuts, I have been trying to get out of the office all week. Well I will be out at GH tomorrow for an afternoon hunt, I hope the weather does’nt get too nice. Just got off the phone with GH they say that a few honkers and some snows have moved in. Only one snow has been reported so far. They hav been averaging 1.5 birds/hunter with an average of 33 hunters per day. That sounds slow to me but ya cant kill ducks from the couch. English Pointers and fine scatter guns, it dont get any better. Posted By: Computer Guy Gold Sponsor… Continue reading

Over all it was a fun time but after running up and down hills for two days I remember why I like duck hunting so much. Friday I will hit GH and Saturday I’ll be shooting Quail, I might even go goose hunting in the afternoon. Can we get some reports on the opener for GH or did everyone skip it like me. They are filling the place up, but it will take some time. Still Water might be a better spot for the youth hunt. They burned alot of the cattails, there will be more open water this year, when they get some water into it. Not alot of birds yet eighther. Posted By: Bill-Reed Guest N/A 01-26-2004 18:06 – – – Jim, I do have mixed emotions about leaving. I have been here all my life, and have so many memories. I remember going up to Elko for deer with my dad in the early 70’s. We got our two bucks, two does, stopped off at Wildhorse and limited out on trout, then down to Sunnyside to hunt the streams. We brought home a possession limit (was that 20 per person then?) of mostly greenheads with a few suzies. I remember hunting the upper Pittman pond with my dad (funny, most of my fondest hunting memories are with him) and picking just Bull Sprigs. Or the day we hunted the flooded fields East to the pond for mallards. Like you, it is not about the killing for me, but I do enjoy at least watching the birds. Great memory this year… Continue reading

Posted By: John-Prentice Field Editor New Mexico 06-18-2010 11:32 Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees Looks like I’m the only guy left on the New Mexico thread. Not a lot going on. Just waiting for the procs to come out. Probably not much difference than last year.Planning another trip to Sask in October. Shooting there is fantastic. Lots of ducks and especially Specs. Highland Outfitters provided outstanding services-great guides-even better food. Posted By: John-Prentice Field Editor New Mexico 01-15-2010 15:21 Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 45-50 Degrees Well, another season is about to be over. I can’t believe that all the former Field Editors have abandoned this site. A couple of years ago this was a lively site with lots of postings. Guess New Mexico waterfowlers have all given up and quit the sport. [Edited By John-Prentice on 2010-01-15 15:23] Posted By: seeker28 Guest 05-29-2008 22:25 –… Continue reading
