Perro:

I am new to the Western Slope…having trouble finding places to hunt. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I live in Grand Junction.

Regards,
Rick

Mostly Sunny, No Precipitation – 35-40 Degrees
My first chance to hunt since 2nd split opened. Still slow but to be expected this time of year.

Got to my blind only to find it stomped down by either elk or moo cows. Couldn’t tell which. Tracks of both, even on my decoy bag that I had left inside.

Anyway I didn’t do too bad. I got 2 drake green heads and a hen. I should have got 2 more but that’s alright. No geese thus far yet. Spent 1/2 the day rebuilding my blind.

Mostly Sunny, No Precipitation – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water
Went out Monday morning. Lots more ducks than a week ago. The snow and cold in Wyoming and Montana pushed them down. I got a widgeon and 2 gadwals. Hit a goose but it didn’t come down. Hopefully they will stay a while.

Cloudy, Light Rain & Drizzle – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water
alright went out tody and shot a three man limit. i knew this weather would push a few birds down and keep them moving. the morning shoot ws awesome, the birds were moving and working well; so good it took a few boxes to put 18 in the bag. our bag consisted of teal, mallards, gadwall, widgeon, and wood ducks(drakes). i saw alot more birds this weekend then the last, with several flocks of migrating cranes. not sure if i will make it out next weekend but will post if i do.
