well the early season has come and gone and i got out a total of one time. Saw plenty of birds around just not when we were hunting. Hopefully the bird numbers stay up for the season.

Not hearing much from some of you guys. I guess early season got over looked due to the football and deer seasons. Marc you not hunting this early season. Usually you are good for making the rest of us look like beginners with some of your bags. How was ocilla?

was working on a series of lakes in south fulton yesterday. The gees were literally pouring into the biggest lake. Must have seen about 150 by 11:30.

Another pond i was on up in forsyth county waas covered in mallards. 30+ easy with around 50 geese. the people hated them too. too bad it was in the city limits.

No teal this weekend. Had some geese fly over in range while I was picking up (typical). The swamp I was hunting was were a lot of the resident geese had been roosting. I probably jumped up about 300 when I walked in and I am sure they all flew to the closest golf course because I only saw that one group while picking up after that. Could’ve shot a lot of woodies though including one that I might have been able to take down with a baseball bat. Can’t wait til Nov. Saw one group of big ducks that took a few circles around the swamp. THought I saw another group but it just turned out to be mosquitos in my peripheral vision.

Paul,

Which lake were you hunting? Sounds like it wasn’t too bad of a hunt if you at least had some birds moving around you.

I’ve got a spot in central georgia that we spotted some teal on last weekend. They’re probably long gone but hopefully some more have taken their place for this weekend. I’ll keep you posted.

Well the table was set. Lots of birds had been seen in the area over labor day so VFE Chris and i hit the lake for a try. What a mistake that was. Now i am going to have to beat him off the lake with a stick. We were covered up in mallards all morning. Even had a group of teal do a fly by. Course the geese failed to make it to the party. Did have one nice pair come in. They avoided the decoys and landed on the water with the mallards. They proceeded to walk into the spread. These are the most blessed birds i have ever seen. We jumped them at 35-40 yards and let them have it. Feathers flew one even messed his shorts we hit them so hard and we watched them fly away. Course as we decide to call it a morning the words had barely left my lips as another pair (possibly the same ones) did a fly by just to taunt us.

Was a fun time. Chris i enjoyed it and we will have to do it again some time. Crash is really coming along. I was impressed.
