On Saturday 11/22 hunted a river and we were finally on the “X” this year. We paddled in to the spot on the river that usually holds ducks when everything else is frozen and found at least 300 birds packed into a bend in the river and a little pool off of the river. We set up and waited for them to come back and gradually for the next 4 hours they came back. Ended up with 5 nice drake mallards and one hen.
I’m pretty sure this was my first limit of mallards since hen counted for 100 points and you were done for the day. It was so much fun we went back in the rain the next day. Nothing happened. Didn’t see many birds and nothing decoyed.
