I have see 5 groups of geese flying high. Heard a large amount of snow geese last night in the dark as I was getting off of work. There is not much public land in Southern Johnson County where I have been doing most of my hunting. I have access to four different private ponds and some of the river. I grew up in the area so I know many land owners. I also take my Nephew along and people are a lot better about access when you have a kid along. He loves to hunt. I get off of work at noon tomorrow and plan to set up to try and get some migrating birds that afternoon and them hopefully hunt my honey hole pond Thurs. morning one last time before it freezes. Should be some good hunting the next few days if the birds don’t fly on by.

Quick question, is this the same Mark Ragsdale that was stationed at FE Warren in Security in the early 90s?

JasThom-Do have alot of public land in Johnson County?

PUDL, The hunting is pretty slow from what I’ve seen and heard. Hopefully this weather will bring in some new birds. Have you been on Pond 8 lately?

Cloudy, Winds Calm – 35-40 Degrees
Went out this morning and saw a lot of duck at our honey hole. We had a three person limit by 7:30. Some of the ducks looked like new ducks. I hope I get a chance to go out and hunt this location at least one more time before freeze up. It is going to get cold Tue. and Wed. so I hope it is still open on thursday morning. It is a deep pond but the level is dropping. I have been seeing some more geese in the area but I think that they might still be mostly locals as they don’t get to much pressure. Next week should be a good one.

Well like a dummy back to Packer we went, along with 5 other groups and it was pointless just like the previous days. Tons of high flyin ducks early so maybe we got another push of birds but these dudes were high and lined out, had one flock of geese come over about 40 yards high should of hammered down on em but let them go and off they went and that was about it, one single got killed on the west lake and that was it for the killin.
