Where are all the birds Florida Boys?? Hunted up around gainesville and saw about ten woodies. Took long shots at two doubles but just far away enough to give em a scare. No ducks in the bag. Where have they all gone??

Deer Point Lake, Panama City 12-21-2005 18:37
Mostly Sunny, No Precipitation – 35-40 Degrees
Saw widgeon on the lake this morning. Shot a ringnecks and 2 bufflehead but didn’t see any big numbers. Still no redheads but need to check the bay. There are still fair numbers of wood duck on the lake but they are very wary. I’m thinking of heading east to Lake Wimico or Seminole. does anyone have a report for those areas?

Guana River WMA 12-16-2005 12:47
Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 45-50 Degrees
Hunted north in Guana on 12/10 and took home 4 (1 green-wing, 1 shoveler and 2 scaup). Didn’t really see that many birds though. Anybody having any luck hunting south in Guana?

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 60-65 Degrees
Scouted last pm, nothing in the air from sunset till dark, Full moon didn’t help I’m sure, no boating activity on the lakes.

The ducks are rafting in the middle of the lakes away from the marshes

Saw migrators at sunlight just beneath the cloud layer, maybe 1500 in 4 large v formations. headed toward Lake Kissimmee or farther south.

Check out the large number of scaup in the retention ponds around Gaylord resort in Orlando!!

Not much, maybe 100 ringnecks in small groups on the chain o lakes. We should start to see some increase in numbers as cold as it is up north.
