Teal season opens this weekend for many southern states, but Hurricane Ivan may put a halt to hunting in Florida and other Gulf Coast states.

MIGRATION UPDATE – September 2, 2004

Looks like we made it? Migratory bird season opened this week in several states. The Wednesday opener’s for dove, teal and nuisance geese were by and large a success and openers in other states this coming weekend look promising.

In one week the opening bell rings for many in the U.S. Hunting season is nearly here and it can’t come soon enough.

The kickoff to the fall hunting season is about to begin, and hunters everywhere are getting word of the final shape of their seasons. As we make our last minute plans and preparations, remember: safety first, and take a young person hunting with you.

The Waterfowler.com Migration Map is up and running. Last year’s addition of teal as a subcategory was a big success and with the map now sponsored by Ducks Unlimited and available at Ducks.org as of September 1st, this year promises another banner year for WFC real-time migration tracking. As you scout and get ready for the season, be sure to report your migration observations on the WFC Migration Map. MIGRATION REPORT August 3, 2004

The spring survey numbers from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service came out this past week, bringing us one step closer to the 2004 – 2005 waterfowl season.

MIGRATION REPORT – July 6, 2004 Waterfowl Breeding Survey

A handful of states have released their spring survey numbers and a few have even released tentative season dates. But until the official counts are released, speculations are still widely varied about the shape of the upcoming waterfowl season.

The final details for this year’s WFC Timber Hunt have been put together and booking begins today. From January 14th -17th WFC members and staff will join the fine folks at Mallard Retreat in Stuttgart for three days of ducks and geese in the timber and rice of the Grand Prairie.
