Mostly Sunny, No Precipitation – 35-40 Degrees
The ducks seem to have become nocturnal for some reason. They move into Bombay about 20 mins before shooting time never to be seen again. They fly in groups of a couple hundred and just wave after wave go in. Must have saw/heard 5000 ducks in the morning. Not much shooting and didn’t fire the gun.

Very few ducks in the air. We shot teal, mallard, black and a snow. Relatively little shooting around us.

Driving through Smyrna and on the way home northbound on Route One, almost every pond, creek and storm basin had ducks, mostly mallards.

Cloudy, Heavy Fog – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water
Hunted Friday Dec. 14th. Almost too foggy to drive; actually got off course in the boat and we only had to go about two hundred yards to the blind.

Ducks were dropping into the decoys 15 minutes before legal shooting. They looked like large humming birds as they hovered in.

Abundant green wing teal and later in the morning mallards. Saw dozens of pintails. Shot a wigeon and a shoveler. There were geese around, but they would not come near.

Seemed everyone around us was shooting a fair number of ducks.

Hunted Ted Harvey-Logan Lane goos pit on Friday. Wished the fog was lower – birds were all over but just a hair out of range due to fog, but scrathced a few. Sat hunted for crab bait and ended with buffies and a couple blacks which was nice but large duck numbr were low until today. Out scouting on Sun and man there were birds and I mean bird working everywhere from Prime Hook (RT 16) all the way down to the IR Inlet. I hope this week the temps drop because it is way too warm and too much water blown in from the high winds. Heading out Tues, Wed, Fri, and Sat. so good luck to all!

Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – Froze Out
Hunted all day on Saturday. Managed to get the geese to cooperate in the morning with no duck flight at all. In the afternoon the duck flight was on, but after three o’clock they knew where they were going. We managed some ducks early in the afternoon between 130 and 3PM. After that we just watched thousands of ducks pour out of the Hook going somewhere on their minds. It was just one of those days.
