Cloudy, Heavy Fog – 50-60 Degrees
Hunted Prime Hook yesterday, a lot of birds still moving around over despite the lack of good hunting weather. Shot 2 canadas, 3 Snows, black duck, and a mallard. Thick fog made for fast difficult shot on ducks, by the time you saw them it was almost too late to pull the trigger

Birds seem to be getting a little shy.
It seems they are working alot better when we have some “ducky” weather.
Bring on the rain and wind.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 60-65 Degrees
Deer hunted PA tonight and was in the stand for about 30 min. A nice 8 point came out and presented a broadside shot at 110 yards.. Took a shot with the 50cal inline and he ran 5 yards and droped..
My 2nd deer with a gun ever.. Got plenty with the old jeep….

Cloudy, Occassional Rain Showers – 40-45 Degrees
thanksgiving week was pretty decent. had some awesome duck shoots on monday and wednesday along with a killer shoot on thursday and then friday was a successful day but not as good as I would have hoped.
Monday saw mallards blacks and teal along with some pintails and canada geese. the birds worked well and the geese worked great to the water when no one was hollering at them. overall didnt see the number of birds that we were used to seeing in late november but still managed to fall just a few birds short of our limit.
Wednesday was absolutely awesome in the wind and rain. The birds started off working a little ignorant with all the shooting around us but we still managed to do some damage at first light which was really dark but man it was awesome. we kept on working on them as the morning progressed and managed wigeons gadwalls teal bluebills ringnecks and some blacks. the wind made it a little difficult as they would try to work but if they had the wind wrong they werent coming back around to try it again, the geese were not willing to play as they had the wind wrong on their approach every time they came to us. it was a great day.
Thursday was a smoker day for me and 2 friends in a pit above leipsic, we had birds in the decoys as soon as we walked to the pit, large flocks of pintails and mallards work the decoys in tight until we could not take anymore of them, we managed 2 blacks and didnt wait for the 3rd as we had things to do. back in the truck headed home by 9am. the geese did not want to work at all, but the ducks had no problem working in tight. I think the geese are getting a little stale as the season progresses with very few new birds mixed in.
Friday didnt work out as planned and never got set up until well after shooting time, saw loads of birds on the boat ride out of which we are going to setup on them at the end of the week, managed a beautiful toll of canadas and wrecked the whole flock. also managed some mallards and pintails but couldnt find a black duck. The geese we did see were in large flocks headed out to the fields,
overall it was a great week, managed to kill a nice 10pt and some does on saturday and sunday in MD as their firearms season is off to great start on our farms.
hope everyone had a great holiday week, and good luck on the birds as this split winds down, I will be out friday and saturday in the morning but I am chasing deer in the evenings for sure,

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 35-40 Degrees
Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Saw a bunch of teal and a few woodies.
Canada geese about, but will not decoy at all.
Snow geese in the air and in fields, but nowhere near hunters.
The first short season was great this year, but Thanksgiving was the worse in quite a while.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 35-40 Degrees
Saw about a flock of 5,000 plus(Literally) Mallards this morning moving into the hook. Too bad they do not seem to like winter wheat. The only ducks that do seem to be black ducks for whatever reason. Not many dark geese flying at all. Other reports that I hear are that there is no luck in this area with the dark geese. First day that I have not seen any teal which means they may have moved out with the frost last night. Bring on the snow.
