Sunny & Clear, Morning Fog – Over 70 Degrees
hunted emeralda sunday am. had two other people in my spot, so hunted in another area. didn’t do squat, but they sure did. note: these guys had over 100 decoys out, and were using a heron confidence decoy. Sounded like WWII, and after I pulled in I sat watching them through a spotting scope, and they were pulling in ducks….mostly ringers from what I could see. I hardly saw any ducks myself, isolated single teals and ringers, got one of each. also noticed that the ducks were running down channels instead of overflying the reed beds, I may try setting up along one of the channels next time.

Sunny & Clear, Morning Fog – 60-65 Degrees
Scouted emeralda today. Saw 1 pair of woodies, one pair of mallards, 1 group of 7 ringers, another group of 5, and the occasional single or pair. Lots of coots, the lake is down about a foot in area 3. Very disappointed. Talked to a couple of regulars, they said that this time last year there were tons of ducks here. Where’s the ducks????

I have a friend who has been in Florida for a couple of months now helping them folks recover from all those storms. He loves to duck hunt and has brought all his gear with him but he does not know anything about the state. He asked me to find out if any of you guys would help a country boy out with a hunt. I am sure he will pay for fuel and work his butt off, he has a boat but it is back here in Texas. This is a real good guy and I would not put my name to this if I did not feel this way about him. His name is Hank Shank and his cell phone number is 832-248-8008. He is staying in Vero beach area at Port Saint Loucy. Hank told me he will drive as far as he needs to for a chance to shoot a duck. Once again this is a real good guy who has been away from his family trying to make a little money in a state that needed a hand.
Thanks!

Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – Over 70 Degrees
Drove around S. lake county this am. Saw several groups of teal-4-6 ducks in some of the retention ponds in the area. Didn’t see anything from the road in the more open water areas.

Saw large flocks of green wings, a few blue wings. Tons of woodies going to small flag ponds.
The Lake O reports are not optimistic. Few flocks around of teal, mottled and some ringers, but not the big numbers yet. Ain’t it always the way?
