Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 35-40 Degrees
Did not sit over Deeks on Sunday, spent the day chasing Pheasants. But finally saw the ducks moving around. Probably saw 1000 ducks in the area, and that is a first for this season, on this end of the Treasure Valley. Hoping the weather cooperates for next weekend. Talked to some guys who hunted our blind on Sunday, and they saw more ducks in the air than they ever have. Tall Ducks moving East to West from the Snake to who knows where.

Cloudy, Light Rain & Drizzle – 35-40 Degrees
Saturday, five us hunted most of the day and shot 21 birs… mostly mallards. Sunday we went to a different spot west of Glenns Ferry and shot 21 birds between 3 of us. The southern wind was perfect for our setup and the birds decoyed well. We did see group after group of snow geese heading south as well. We were out by 11:00, and groups of 100-200 were heading south every 5 minutes the whole time we were out there. We probably saw 3000-5000 total for the morning. Pretty cool to see… just wish they’d stay in the area instead of heading south and bypassing the area. Didn’t see any honkers, or even that many ducks… but the snow geese kept us entertained.

Good day for us bad for the ducks!. We put a hurtin on the greenheads. I am no longer bandless, 2 bands in one day! Both were greenheads. We saw thousands of snow geese flying. I have never seen that before. They flew from before first light till about 11:30. Anybody else seeing them?

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 40-45 Degrees
Couldn’t stand missing the first normal day since the big storms moved through over the past week… had to take the afternoon off work. It was a good move, two of us limited on ducks in 2 hours… There was a significant increase in ducks over the past week. The calm weather didn’t help, but the birds had no problem dropping right in. The bag consisted of mallards, gadwall, and a pintail. Can’t wait to get out again.

Cloudy, High Winds – 40-45 Degrees
I either slept in or did not remember daylight savings time but when I got to where I wanted to set up there were five geese there. So I drove to another lake and saw a large (80 to 90) flock of ducks landing. There was quite a lot of wind and a little rain. I don’t know for sure but I am guessing that this was a new flock of ducks to this area. The weather patern seems like it will change and bring us some bad/good weather.

Cloudy, High Winds – 60-65 Degrees
Three of us headed out for an afternoon hunt at CJ yesterday. What a slow day with very few birds around. We ended up with 7, but that was after 4 hours of hunting. There was nobody else out… We need some weather to get some birds down here.

American Falls Reservior area 10-26-2005 14:37
Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 60-65 Degrees
This was more of a scouting trip than anything. I found a few springs and sloughs along the north side of the tributary area. The springs and ponds had lots of ducks on them. This could be a good area when it gets cold. I shot one rooster. The reservior is low. The mud flats are extensive. I understand that this is a good place for geese.

Went out for a short evening hunt. The spot I hunted is a small pond/mudhole. As far as I know no one else hunts this pond and I dont usually hunt there until the middle of the season. Lots of ducks but talk about call shy. They did not want to hear any quacks. The mallard drake call led them right in though. It was a very good hunt for only being about 30 minutes long and no decoys. I ended up with 2 drake mallards and a greenwing. We definetly need a change in temp its to hot to be duck hunting.Especially in 5mm fleeced lined waders:)
