Migration Update – May 2, 2007

Spring has sprung, waterfowl nesting is underway across the North American Continent and waterfowl hunters are trudging through the dreaded-off season.

Hello folks, and as always, welcome to Waterfowler.com.

The off-season is often times the busiest part of the year for waterfowl hunters. From sport shooting to dog training and decoy making, there is never a shortage of “ducky” things to do when we are not hunting.

June 2007 marks the first annual Duck Dawg Appreciation Month at Waterfowler.com. Throughout the month of June, Waterfowler.com will celebrate the companionship, value and performance of the duck hunter’s best friend, the duck dog.

As part of that celebration, Waterfowler.com will host a photo and essay contest for members with a host of wonderful prizes. In addition, members will receive special discounts via email for various canine products and training accessories from various sponsors.

Details on the photo and essay contest will be posted next week, along with submission instructions and prize listings. In the mean time, members are encouraged to search for their favorite duck dog photos and personal stories.

Of course, the off-season at Waterfowler.com is always busy. Planning has begun for the 2007 Member Hunt in Manitoba. Details will follow in the coming weeks, but you may want to keep your calendar open in the later part of September if you’d like to join WFC and 20 members for an absolutely extravagant waterfowl hunt this fall.

As we wait for nesting reports from the prairie, WFC will continue to monitor production status with a hopeful eye.

Until next week, get outside and enjoy the great outdoors.
