– – 25-30 Degrees – Open Water
Safe zones are slowly freezing up. Some should be closed by tomorrow AM. Most should be solid by the Saturday Morning if all goes well. New Birds should be arriving from Ct.,Ri, and Mass. . / Dark gooose hunting has been dificult to the east,as well as, elseware on the island this past week. This is due to recent hunting pressure. The exception has been a few areas on the south fork. New Birds and sub zero weather should help. This final weekend looks promising across the board in all areas. Hunt safe, and enjoy the total experience, GNR.

Oncoming cold front should bring in new birds, and get the birds that are here out of the safe zones. Low temps and wind chills are forcast. Ramps will be getting icy. Hunt safe and be where the birds want to be, GNR.

Cloudy, Occassional Rain Showers – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water
Mostly a rain event for Suffolk Co.. Should show some improvement in action with the back side of this low. Winds will be coming northerly with below freezing tenperatures. Some new birds should arrive and the safe zones should start to freeze up. ..

/ No reports in. All must be enjoying their time afield. / If you know that the numbers of birds in your area is currently low, it may be just the time to get out and practice at the range. I have been noticing a large increase in the numbers of shooters at the local ranges taking advantage of skeet, trap, 5 stand and sporting clays to improve their shooting skill. Learn to both sweep and point shoot. It will pay off big time when afield. Hunt safe, GNR.

Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 45-50 Degrees
There are fair numbers of birds about the island. Most are in the safe zones and curently in a resting mode due to the warm temps. Geese seem to be feeding mid day if at all. Many ducks are feeding at night and resting on safe roosts during the day. Most Blue Bills around the island are spooky and educated. Bright spots are Brandt and Buffs. Sharpies are doing ok accross the board. Dark geese to the east are getting educated fast and/or are looking for large numbers. Enjoy the total experience. Drakes only, and take what you use, GNR.

Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 50-60 Degrees
The insane heat wave has melted a lot of ice over the past few days…even some swamps are opening back up and it has the birds spreading out and even some heading back to the north.

Good luck in these last few days.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 40-45 Degrees
Hunted a marsh 35 miles east of NYC with marginal conditions at best. 5 of us shot our limit of brant, 2 drake mallards and 2 green wing teal. Given the weather it was a great morning. We should have killed another mallard, acouple more teal and a black duck. If we would have shot alittle better it would have been an unreal morning given the warm weather. Looks like it is going to be warm weather all week, not sure what is in store for the weekend but doesn’t look good. Hunt safe and pray we get an arctic blast before the season is over.

Lots of birds in the central part of the state still. Western Zone has one more week to go before the season wraps up.

Seeing good numbers of geese, mallards and redheads especially.

Well you would think everybody went hunting. Could very well be. You like the weather of Long Island, just wait an hour and it will change. Something like that. It started to click yesterday. Today temeratures are moderating. The big picture is improving. Get out and enjoy your weekend and BWTBWTB,GNR. PS Get M UP Sprig!
