Had a great opening day, with a total of 4 guys we ended up shooting 22 Mallards, 9 Specs, 4 honkers. Had hundreds of ducks landing in the decoys before shooting time. It was awesome.

Well i tried to hunt some local geese on the 9th. got set up before daylight and heard the geese talking on the river. saw a total of 20 geese. 18 of them landed out in the field not even paying attention to me then 2 set down 20 yards out side the decoys.
That is what not scouting the evening before will get you. i drove back from portland and relied on family to do the scouting for me.
Well we will get on them come october.

I bow hunt also , for elk i like to hunt the trask unit for the size of the bulls but saddle mt has the most but has a lot of timber company and gets closed down due to fire danger . As far as deer I like to hunt around the upper clackamas river in the late season ( huge bucks )
As far as waterfowl I hunt public land like sauvies island and he columbia river . The only problem with sauvie is sky busters and crowds . I try to stay with the columbia the most. Good luck
