Just a quick update. i just took a drive around our farm and did some glassing on the river and have seen more geese in the last 20 min. than i have seen all season so far.
Lots of big flocks of geese looking for a field.
Also 1 big flock of snow geese sitting on the river. guessing a couple thousand birds.
I am thinking this is the head of the migration. hopefully they will stick around for this weekend.

This weekend was pretty slow.
Not a whole lot of geese working the area and the geese that i did see comeing off of the river all went directly north into washington. I am thinking new birds should be ariving any day now.
This moring on the way to work i actually saw more birds flying over our farm then i had seen in a week. maybe it is a good sign.
I guess we will see what happens this weekend.

Sunny & Clear, Morning Fog – 45-50 Degrees
Well I’m starting to see birds working. This week I had a group of about 50 greenheads circle the field and land in the river. What a great sight all those birds circling and landing. Amazing. The geese have been up and down the valley this week as well. As soon as I wrap up deer season, I can hit the ponds and chase some birds. Hows it going for everyone else…

Hope everyone has gotten off to a good start.
I havent been able to go out much the last 2 weeks we have had deer tags but those are all filled now time to get back to what really matters.
Looks to me like most of the local Geese have moved out and now just waiting for the weather to push down the migrators.
Looks like there are a few ducks sticking around McCormick slough but i am not really sure how they are doing down there.
Last night did some glassing out across the river and did see a few flocks of geese and ducks rafting out in the middle.
Hopefully new birds will be showing up here shortly and we can really get things going.
good luck to everyone and shoot them with there legs down.

Hunted sunday for geese in a corn field . Lots of big cans and a few speks still around. Limmited by 8:15 with some really close shooting.
Seeing more and more birds every day. I would say that the head of the migration is really starting to show up. I think it will just keep getting better and better.
Not sure how they did not at McCormick this weekend i did hear a lot of shooting down there on saturday but i have not checkedd the numbers yet.
Keep shooting straight

Hope everyone had a good opener.
We hunted McCormick slough on sat with a number 1 pick and shot 17 ducks for 3 of us. Mostly Green wing teal but a few widgeon and 3 pintail. Would have been nice to have had some cloud cover but it was still a good day.
Sunday i took my wife out goose hunting in a corn field on our farm and we shot 7 big cans and 3 specks. I love early season geese they just put the legs down and fall in without thinking.
I wish they were this easy all season.
Well i hope everyone had as good of a time as we did.
