Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees
Hunted Labor Day and took a few birds. Geese were traveling in big groups and we worked to pull small groups out of the main flock. All birds responded well to calling and settled in nicely. Probably saw ~150 birds total in less than one hour of hunting. A few groups came back on the come-back call.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees
Small groups were hitting the oats last night. Our group managed to take 8 birds last night. Birds were calm and landed easily in our spread with minimal calling required.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees
Local birds are moving around in cut oats. Hunted with a group of guys opening day and entertained 3 flights over a small spread…..took 17 total in the evening hunt.
Hunting activity has picked up from non-locals…aka “aliens” from outside the county. They were shooting some nearby flocks that were penciled in to be hunted over Labor Day.

Cloudy, Snow Flurries – 30-34 Degrees – Ice
Nothing but ice. The geese found some open water somewhere and got off the lake late……after 08:00. Only a few ducks in the area and they are having trouble finding open water. Everything is frozen and covered with 8-10″ of snow. Good luck finding open or moving water.

Cloudy, Snow & Rain Mix – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water
Opening day – 2nd season:
Geese started off the lake @ 07:15 and didn’t quit until 08:00.
Mallards were up before the geese, but hidden in the fog. They were back and forth from the field to the lake all morning.
Shooting was limited due to visibility, but the birds were active. I hung in there until 09:00 and then threw in the towel…..snow changed to heavy rain/wind.
