Not much geese at table today. I flock came over before shooting time and two about 8 O clock but didn’t want in. I think because of Pheasant hutners. On Wen. got a couple of geese. Flock got up for divsion pond as I was going to set up about 7:30 and flew off to the side of me low. Later some got off pond one but not that many geese yet up there.

Well it is going to get real cold up north and only cold here. I have been seeing an increased number of geese and ducks in the area. This weekend could be good if you get the right spot. Would like to try a field hunt but I do not have the time to scout and most places won’t grant access. We plan on trying a new area in the morning. There will only be two of us because one of our hunting buddies get to go hunt one of the big wigs, from our company, private spot on the river. I hope we do better than them but I am not holding my breath. Good hunting.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 35-40 Degrees
We saw any where between 100 to 400 huntable geese flying around the area where we were hunting, but they did’nt seem real interested in what we had to offer. They just flew over like we were’nt even there. We were hunting a corn field and I think with the full moon they were out feeding under the cover of darkness and had water on there minds when the sun came up. My old man was binocking to the south of us and said he saw mayde 3000 or so, east of springer coming from the south heading north then turning east and going over Table Mountain. So from my observations there still is not too many honkers around. My friend said there is somewhere around 10,000 geese east of Scottsbluff. Another source said thousands of high flyers come over Brush CO. last week right ahead of the snow storm we got. Well thats all I got to tell everyone and hopfully we don’t have another season like last years. Good luck to all!

Cloudy, Winds Calm – 10-20 Degrees – Open Water
Well I didn’t make it out Friday morning but two of my hunting buddies did and they had a great shoot. I went out with them the next morning and we only had 2 birds by eight and I needed to be backin Casper by 10 so I loaded up my stuff and headed in. There were some ducks and a few geese around but we were hunting in the same spot as the day before and the few that flew by already new the game. We might have pulled a small bunch of geese in if we would have set any goose decoys out. They circled us three times with just calling but we couldn’t get them to come close enough for a good shot. I had to watch the kid this morning because mom was working so I did get to go out, but my buddies were going to try another area this morning to see if that worked any better. Hope to get out next weekend before the local DU waterfowlers Party here in Casper. Good luck to everyone.

Cloudy, High Winds – 10-20 Degrees – Ice
Well I hope someone got to shoot at some of the thousands of geese I saw fly right by on Wed. afternoon. We got one more shoot in on our pond this morning, which was only kept open by the ducks, and we ened up with 13 ducks. We could have had our 3 man limit easy but we were selective in our shooting trying to get those duck to land in the open hole and not in the middle of the pond on the ice. We did end up with four hard ice retrieves where the dogs had to break ice for fifty yards to get to the birds. It was just thin enough that they might fall through so I had to keep sitting my dog on the edge of the ice everytime he made it on top until it would break. Made for some tuff work for the dog but it is better than losing one in the middle of the pond. I really hope this weather has not pushed everything by us. I hope to get out in the morning and see what my other areas have in store. Good luck and happy turkey day.

Don, we hunt the Rawhide area from time to time and would love to find a lease in that area. Good luck finding a lease and let me know if you find something.
