MIGRATION REPORT – January 20, 2005

Two weekends remain in the regular waterfowl season of 2004-2005. With weather ranging from heat waves to blizzards and a few floods thrown in for good measure, it looks like it will be an interesting finish during the weeks ahead. Rain, sleet, snow, floods and heat waves—it seems that the weather across the US has it all in store for the North American Waterfowler as the weekend advances. As the regular season hits the final stretch, winter weather is again targeting the center of the Nation and flood waters are on the rise for many areas. From coat to coast and border to border it seems every conceivable condition is coming into play as the 2004-2005 regular season moves into its final weeks. Winter? From snowsuits to short pants, winter came and went for much of the US this past week. MIGRATION UPDATE – December 21, 2004

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the camp, the gun dogs where snoring, all muddy and damp.  Members were pacing from reports they had got, migrants were moving on cold winds they’d caught. With mouse buttons clicking in the glow of blue screens, members were posting like you’d never seen. Come mallards, come pintails, teal and geese, on widgeon, on gadwall and spoonies the least. Their wings they will whistle and hens will quack, you’ll never sleep now, well, maybe a nap. So hang up your waders and nestle in bed, dream about decoys and big green heads. As the season continues and we wait for this night, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good flight! — Happy holidays from the entire WFC staff. MIGRATION UPDATE – December 14, 2004

Cold air is moving south across much of the country, and it appears the ducks and geese are making tracks as well. Hello folks, and as always, welcome to Waterfowler.com. With the first real cold of the season diving down the country, waterfowlers from are fired up about the coming weekend. Christmas shopping and other holiday chores may get put on hold for a few days while the bulk of the duck hunters in the US hit the fields over the weekend. With their bellies full of turkey and dressing, waterfowlers took to the field for the long Thanksgiving weekend in hopes of a few early Christmas presents of the duck and goose variety.
