Posted By: Casey-Huxoll Field Editor Boardman 01-17-2008 18:24 – – – It has gotten a little colder this week. Looks like it will be cold this weekend as well with a chance of snow sat. night and sunday. lets cross our fingers and hope for that. The last few days the geese have not been working any of my fields in the morning but in the evening is a different story. There are 2000+ geese in 3 different fields this evening. I am not sure what the difference is. I am wondering if they are going north in the morning off of the river then coming south in the evening. that is all i can figure…. Looks like there might be some afternoon sets going on this weekend.. just makes it hard to scout for the next day. Well lets all do a snow dance and hope for some clouds… Continue reading

Posted By: Paul-Cantrell Field Editor Siltcoos 12-15-2007 18:38 Cloudy, Light Rain & Drizzle – 40-45 Degrees Well, the birds arrived. Good numbers of Bluebills on the lake today and plenty of movement to keep them flying. We limited pretty easily today. some friends hunted the east side of the lake and pulled 3 limits and hit some Canvasback as well. Great weather with just a small squall come through and the water conditions were perfect. /Paul Bluebills – 6 Bufflehead – 1 Temp 44 Calm water, NW wind Overcast with patch sun [Edited By Paul-Cantrell on 2007-12-15 18:39] Posted By: Casey-Huxoll Field Editor Boardman 12-10-2007 09:23 – – – Hunted Geese on saturday with some different results. We hunted the morning in a corn field and every group of geese that got off the river went straight north. we saw maybe 100 geese come our way in the morning. we… Continue reading

Posted By: tigerduck Web Member Upper Klamath/Agency Lake 11-25-2007 18:29 Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 45-50 Degrees Lauched at Agency Lake and headed to the new flooded area that is part of the Nature Conservancy project. Broke ice most of the way to the N/W dike and breezed through the cut. Water level is very good and should’nt be a problem for those with standard outboards. Ice conditions worked to our advantage as large numbers of waterfowl drained into open areas. The entire area was active with huge amounts….thousands…of widgies, cans, malards and divers. Widge’s accounted for most of the numbers. The entire area is loaded and active despite clear and calm weather conditions. Good to see the migraters are finally making their entrance into the basin. Posted By: Casey-Huxoll Field Editor Boardman 11-05-2007 18:24 – – – Just a quick update. i just took a drive around our farm and did some glassing on the river and have seen more geese in the last 20 min. than i have seen all season so far. Lots of big flocks of geese looking for a field. Also 1 big flock of snow geese sitting on the river. guessing a couple thousand birds. I am thinking this is the head of the migration. hopefully they will stick around for this weekend. Posted By: Casey-Huxoll Field Editor Boardman 11-05-2007 09:07 – – – This weekend was pretty slow. Not a whole lot of geese working the area and the geese that i did see comeing off of the river all went directly north into washington. I am thinking new birds should be ariving any day now. This moring on the… Continue reading

Posted By: NMDuckaholic Guest 08-11-2007 14:22 – – – Hello All, I will be moving to Oregon in September, I will be there for 9-12 months (work related) I was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction of gettin into some waterfowl huntin while I’m there? Guides? I also Bow hunt, for big game, any chance of gettin into anything? Thank you in advance. NMDuckaholic Posted By: Paul-Cantrell Field Editor Note from ODFW 07-17-2007 09:23 Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees It is apparent from waterfowl counts that a 107 day liberal duck season will be offered again this year. Goose numbers have maintained themselves also. So in essence I will be proposing basically no changes from duck and goose seasons from last year. The new goose seasons in Klamath and the south coast area would be maintained but we are pursuing… Continue reading

Posted By: Casey-Huxoll Field Editor Boardman Area 01-22-2007 09:32 – – – Huntedd for geese this weekend. Saw lots of geese but most were up high and headed south. We did manage to get a few on both sat and sunday but these were the birds that were flying low and they were still a little wary of just dropping into the decoys. you can tell these birds have been to the dance before. Not sure how the ducks were this weekend i tried to stay home when i wasnt hunting. i am pretty sure that McCormick is still froze up but with the temp. rising it should be thawed out in a couple days, or at least the river blinds should be. Good luck to everyone. Posted By: greenhead hitman Web Member mid columbia river 01-21-2007 20:54 Cloudy, Winds Calm – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water Slow morning ,… Continue reading

Posted By: salton sea man Web Member Indian tom lake 01-12-2007 17:18 Sunny & Clear, High Winds – 30-34 Degrees – Ice springkiller55, thanks for the comeback….when you hunted at Indian Tom Lake, did you: actually see very many fligts working the lake? and did you do very well on any birds?…..in a heavy wind storm this lake seems to “short stop” a lot of birds from going over to meiss lake; but I don’t know if there’s any birds that ever come from the south to this lake?….I was told that in the 40’s it was the western boundry lake for a club that the refuge has purchased and made part of the refuge???….also, the flat area north of stateline (actual water holding resevoir) was , and may still be a partial club; but was supposedly a great hunting locatio for honkers until someone “complained???” that the area couldn’t… Continue reading
