Oklahoma Duck and Goose Hunting Report Archive

Posted By: LILRVR Guest 01-12-2010 11:12 – – – Just back from the Sooner state. I have come to realize that I have truly missed duck hunting there. I was stationed at Ft Sill in the mid 90’s and really enjoyed the waterfowling the area had to offer. All I have to say about this trip is, “wow”!! I really feel foolish for waisting my time and money going anywhere else after our season closes here in Iowa. Thank you Oklahoma for making this season better than what it would have been had I not gone. Posted By: dweilert Guest All over 01-09-2010 18:59 – – – been all over with the Atlanta boys fo rthe last 4 days. Killed 6 geese and 15 ducks on day one, killed 24 ducks on day 2, 10 or so on day 3 and 23 today. We have had to travel all over… Continue reading

Posted By: Aaron(Mingo)Milligan Field Editor 01-02-2010 18:48 Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 10-20 Degrees – Open Water Actually found a pond this morning with some open water. There were a few geese and ducks that roosted there overnight so we had high hopes that we were in the right spot. Maybe we were, but it didn’t pan out. We got one flock of Gadwall and cut three to go with a single Gaddie and a single Mallard. Other than a fly by from some jacks that was it. There are a few ducks around but it seems that many have moved on, probably due to the ice and also that the area we hunt does not have much for food sources other than aquatic vegetation. Posted By: iluvlabs Guest Wayne, OK 12-24-2009 15:44 Arctic Blast – 25-30 Degrees – Open Water Made it out at about 11:30. Shot a limit of gadwalls. Couldn’t believe the weather!! Made for some easy shots though with the ducks just hovering over the water. Hopefully the wind will keep the water open for what should be an awesome hunt in the morning!! Posted By: iluvlabs Guest Wayne, OK 12-18-2009 09:38 – – – Me and a buddy made a quick hunt before work today. Lots of birds in right before LST. After we got them up, several came back. We ended up with 5 gadwalls, 2 widgeon and 1 lost drake pintail!! First ever pintail I have ever shot. Birds shut it down pretty quick but that was probably due to not very many hunters out this morning to keep them moving. Posted By: Aaron(Mingo)Milligan Field Editor 12-17-2009 19:05 – – – Got second hand invite to go with a group SW of Norman today. We hit a watershed that was covered with geese and ducks. We waited til most had left and then set up. Couldn’t get the geese in, but ended up just a few birds shy of 6 limits of Mallards. Man, I wish I knew why the Mallards… Continue reading

Posted By: Aaron(Mingo)Milligan Field Editor south of OKC metro 12-05-2009 13:15 – – – Out this morning to check a few ponds. Slightly better numbers of ducks on a few ponds, but still nothing on many. Lets hope this cold weather will keep them coming next week. Posted By: dweilert Guest all over 11-30-2009 09:05 – – – I second Mingo’s notion. We found almost the exact results. We went goose hunting saturday and were hunting in a wheat field next to my duck hole. The ducks we saw come into that hole were weary and would circle 8 or 10 times before commiting and that was with noone hunting! We did manage to fool some big geese… Continue reading

Posted By: iluvlabs Guest 11-17-2009 19:59 – – – It did push some ducks Mingo, it pushed them out. I travel alot daily and today I went all the way to Ada and back over to Chickasha and might have seen a dozen ducks. We just need to keep an eye out, they should be here in a day or two. Posted By: Aaron(Mingo)Milligan Field Editor McClain Co 11-17-2009 18:48 Cloudy, High Winds – 35-40 Degrees Snuck out for a really, I mean really quick look this morning. Hunted the same pond we shot 14 on last week. Saw three ducks, shot none. Can’t believe this weather didn’t push some ducks. It was basically a skunking although for some reason a lone Gadwall came… Continue reading

Posted By: Aaron(Mingo)Milligan Field Editor Central OK 11-13-2009 18:14 – – – Maybe more ducks on the move. Most of the ponds I checked today did not have ducks, but the few that did had bigger numbers. Saw a few small ponds that had 30-50 on them. Posted By: dweilert Guest NE 11-12-2009 08:48 – – – been out woodie chasing the last couple days, seems that is what we have the most of at the current time. The beavers have made for me some Arkansas style flooded timber and the wood ducks love it. Shot a limit 2 days ago and 1 shy yesterday. Still looking for the bigs to show up on the local haunts. Posted By: Aaron(Mingo)Milligan Field Editor 11-02-2009 12:41 – – – Not as good as you did! Zone 1 was just decent. There are a few more ducks showing up every day around here, not great numbers but a more or less norman openener it seems. Posted By: dweilert Guest 11-02-2009 09:24 – – – Well???
