Arctic Blast – Below Zero
I’m feeling sick!I think that I should take off early so that everyone else won’t catch this. The doctor says that I need some fresh air and to spend some time with my dog.

HAVAZOO N.W.R./CHEMEHUEVI REZ 11-06-2005 13:01
Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees
Hey Ho Waterfowlers, Well I somehow managed to “rescue” Duckman Rusty from 5 Mile Landing and get him with new pup, Hunter(so original that Rusty), to my waterfowl haven. On the morning of the 27th we “motored” on over to the Horseshoe and set-up. There was not alot flying but, Rusty shot well and bagged 4 Mallards (2 Susie’s, dag nabbit and darn you Rusty)and a gadwall. It was his best shoot ever with me, on my “home turf”!!! Hunter the pup, performed very well and he is going to bring us alot of birds and joy. Yesterday I hunted 3/4 of the day with “Duckman Eric the Viking”. Eric and his new pup “Fisher”(yuck what a name for a Yellow Lab), managed 1 Gadwall and 2 hen Spoonies. I scratched my 2nd. Greenhead of the season and missed another. We got W.A.M.ed by a flock of about 10 Widgeon, but that’s huntin’. I had to rename “Fisher” to a more female canine of a name, so her NEW name now is “Sara Lee”(nobody doesn’t like…). The pup did o.k. and she is sister to Hunter. They both came from Ron Gober Kennals. Oh when, oh when will we all ever see, those frigid Arctic blasts and Siberian Express’s, the way it used to be???!!! Be safe out there and ya’ll getcha some feathers, Rusty and the Chemehuevi Waterfowl Posse

HAVASU NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE 11-01-2005 15:55
Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees
a friend of mine spoke with the head of the havasu wildlife refuge and they found something on a website somewhere saying that you cannot use any air cooled motors in the havasu refuge. he is working on somebody in washington to try to get it overturned but it will probally take an act of congress. they say that the air cooled motors tear up the vegitation. i do not see how they are any worse than a prop motor being that the mud buddy prop sits 6″ under the surface and a conventional 2 stroke prop sits 1ft to 1.5ft under the surface. maybe they are worried that the stumps out at topock will flourish into trees again. they also said that the motors were too noisy and people would be driving around kicking up birds. no matter what type of motor you have the birds will get up and fly when you drive by. all the mud buddy motor is hyped up lawnmower. all they are doing is hurting the rest of the law obiding hunters by creating these bogus rules. they should be out in the field (not he boat ramps) going after people who tear up the habitat and stretch the rules. but what do i know i am not a federal biologist. i am just a man trying to enjoy my god given right to hunt. maybe they will pass a law where you can’t use a 4×4 vehicle to hunt big game because you might go a little further than a 2wd. so all you guys out there who invested the money on a new mud motor or mud boat don’t worry about getting it dirty this year if you planned to hunt the havasu refuge. don’t hesitate to voice your opinion to the managers of the refuge either. maybe we can make a chAnge. CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

Topock Marsh 11-01-2005 13:47
Sunny & Clear, Morning Fog – 60-65 Degrees
Hunted Topock Marsh 10/30-10/31
Few local Birds in the a.m. just at shoot time. Little to no birds working after that. Keep a small spread out with 1 mojo. Dog was happy to work off summer fat. Will need a cold snap up north to see new birds Here. Federal bird and Game stoped and reported to us that we could no longer use the Mudbuddy motor on the Marsh? They said that it was the law yet I have not read it yet. Looks like it will be up to the 2 strokes this year. Other friends on the marsh reported the same A/M type conditions.******Flew over Lake Alamo 10/15. Water level seemed to be a little lower than last year. Reports of nails and other debrie on the road to Lake Alamo from hwy 40. Hunter reported 5 flats and called for help and the help flattened 3 more. Bring all the spares, You’ll need em! Will hunt there this week and report conditions.

Hello To All, Well I got out for 5 hrs. yesterday a.m.. I got W.A.M.’ed by a drake Pintail as I was loading up, a drake Greenhead that jetted by me as I blinked, and a hen Gadwall which flat fooled me by surpise. I did manage(finally) to get 3 shots at the leader of about 15 pintails that responded real well to my calling. Of course I missed at 30 yards!!! DAG NABBIT!!! I worked another flock of about 20 Pins for a bit but they were a lil’ wiser. Another limit of memories but no birds in the bag. That’s waterfowlin’!!! Anyway, I ran across a Hungarian Partridge hunters’s poem titled “Tell Me”. This poem was featured and recited towards the end of a “Grey’s Sporting” t.v. show on O.L.N.. I love the last sentence of this poem. It goes like this, “Bad habit’s(shooting) grow sweeter with Age”! Be safe and “Getcha Some Feathers”!!! Rusty and the “Posse”
