And now, on to the migration report.

All four flyway councils concluded their meetings this past week and word on the final packages should be out before the weekend. Both the Atlantic and Central Flyways voted to approve the liberal season package recommended by AHM Working Group. Over on the west coast, the Pacific Flyway Council voted in favor of the moderate season framework. And as might have been expected the Mississippi Flyway council came to a split decision with the Upper Mississippi Flyway Council voting for a moderate season package and the Lower Council voting for the liberal alternative. Both sections did however agree on reducing the hen mallard limit to one. The final decision on the Mississippi Flyway will be determined by the USFWS as early as Thursday.

Pintail limits may also be in for a change this season. Several options were presented by each of the Flyway Councils including various forms of seasons within seasons and closing the season on pintails completely.

Be sure to check back over the next few days as more details emerge. Until then, enjoy the new site and hang in there, it’s almost that time again.
