Idaho fish and game frowns on any guiding in this state especiaally for wildlife. I dont think that they are trying to keep out of state hunters, because if that were the case we wouldnt have one of the cheapest out of state licenses. If anything they promote out of state hunters, whether you agree of disagree. I dont understand the real reasn behind them not permitting guiding for waterfowl, I know that it brings in huge dollars for all the states around us that do guide for ducks. I do know that in Idaho 20% of the hunters kill 80% of the birds, rather than living in a state where the amount of birds you kill depends on the amount of money you have or the club that you belong to.

To keep non-residence hunters from shooting Idaho waterfowl? Just a guess.

It is illegal to guide for waterfowl in the state of Idaho.I am a licensed guide and a member of the Idaho guides and outfitters association. Idaho permitts guiding for all species except for migratory birds. I have petitioned for a change. I do know that there is great waterfowling in the chain lakes in northern Idaho. Jnesset and another buddie of mine grew up hunting the wild rice flats in these lakes. I hear that there are thousands of birds early in the season.
