S.F. Snake River 12-23-2005 09:33
Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 35-40 Degrees
The warm weather is helping break up the ice jams and the birds are around. A few geese and hundreds of mallards along the river. Nice big northerns and good potential for a shoot if you can get the birds to move.

Cloudy, Snow & Rain Mix – 25-30 Degrees – Open Water
The birds have evidently left the Parma/Nyssa area. I have been seeing thousands and lately they are few and far between. Two of use shot 6 geese and 6 mallards. The geese are definatley flying out the north end of the lake, where are the ducks?? Have you guys been seeing any concentration of ducks?

Very slow saturday. No birds roosted where we were hunting. We didn’t see near as many ducks as we have been. We saw a few high flying groups of mallards and that was about it. Four of us ended up with four birds. The only puddlers we saw going up and down the river were wigeons. We drove down to a strech of the river where the birds always hang out and only saw a small group of goldeneyes. I did see some huge flocks of mallards landing in a corn feild near Melba on sunday.

The ducks have quit using this stretch of the river. Shot one drake mallard and retieved a lost goose from upstream. Very slow. Nothing sitting on the river this morning. Some friends went to CJ and got skunked.

Four of us went out for an afternoon shoot. The weather wasn’t great, but we managed 10 ducks and 3 geese. Most birds were flying high and the geese were in larger numbers than before.

Henrys Fork River, Rexburg 12-13-2005 17:17
Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Below Zero
With -23 degree weater the only open water was the Sloughs around Rexburg. We had 2 limits of mallards in less than an hour. It was cold and clear and the big greenies from up north were raining in through the trees like drops of water falling from the sky. What a site to see.

Hunted Saturday and Sunday with success. The ice had cleared off the river from Friday. More hunters out than I have ever seen. Shot a banded drake mallard on Saturday and another on Sunday. Had not gotten a duck band since 97, funny how that works. Shot all drake mallards both days, let everything else pass.

Any info on American Falls? How much ice and/or how many birds are out there?
