Agreed.
I doubt anybody is ever going to post up, “man, I killed all the ducks I wanted, and I’m glad the season is over.”
I think about the old days when I was a kid. Maybe make a dozen hunts. Usually end up cold and wet and kill about a dozen ducks all season. Looking at a mallard hen in the decoys when they were 100 points, wonderin’ what to do. I like these days just fine.

Not always limits, but always fun! I am reminded of the saying “A bad day duck hunting is better than a good day doing (almost) anything else!
Kill ’em all, let dogs sort ’em out!
Time to start buying for next year!
Thanks to Mingo and the rest for all the reports!

It’s over and I am not sure yet how it went! I can clearly state that a little shooting practice is much needed! Yet another year of Oklahoma waterfowling is put in the record books, hope all had fun, hope all enjoyed the wonderful outdoors God has so richly blessed us all with and I certainly hope all had the chance to take a child out so as to further this great experience we all love so much. I’m gonna go cry now as the realization hits that I have to wait forever before going duck hunting again!!!

Pretty good closer for us; cold, snow and fog. We got a few groups in and they all wanted right on the decoys. We ended up with three Mallards and 10 Gadwall; bless those grey ducks!
In the end it was a decent season. Probably killed fewer ducks but still good numbers. It just seemed like we had fewer of those really good days when four or five limit could be killed. February is never pretty, but we will be fishing before too long. We all made it through with no injuries to man or dogs and no major equipment breakage, although my shooting was still the same!

Cloudy, Snow Flurries – 25-30 Degrees – Ice
Conditions weren’t good this morning. Had open water yesterday, but everything except a small patch or 2 was froze. Didn’t see anything flying. Lucked out and had 3 gadwalls land on the ice around 8am. Killed one of those. Escaped the skunk atleast. I had a better than average season and I’m sorry that it’s over. Might shoot a goose or 2 before they close out.

oops
Well, got an invite to hunt with a guy I had met and hunted with once and a few of his friends on a nice big watershed. Birds worked well but were not too numerous. We were spread out around the lake and our station of two ended up with four Gadwall and a Canvasback. Total was twelve birds, a pretty good late season shoot. Hope we don’t get iced out of the last weekend!

Went out this morn, killed 10 teal and mallards. Looks to be a slow ender unless this weather does something good

Seroiusly thought we might get skunked today until we got a pair of jacks around 8:00. Shortly after we got a pair of Gadwall. Otherwise it was a repeat of yesterday; not a lot of ducks around.

Kind of typical late season hunt today. Got a flurry of activity just a little after LST and shot 10, then picked off a few more singles over the rest of the morning. Ended up with 15, only saw a couple of small groups that did not come in. Ducks seem to be spread out with a few here and there. I’m guessing it will be that way until the end of the season.
