Al Posted By: rmarci Guest 02-28-2007 09:54 – – – thanks for the info. it saved me a 2 hour drive each way. Posted By: desert drake Guest 02-28-2007 07:08 – – – Randy, the last couple of times that I have been cutting firewood in the bosque, I have seen what appears to be migrating flocks. The sandhill cranes, minus great grandpa or great grandma—-Hey, Dwayne which one was it that you shot?—-have been flying north. I did see a huge flock of snows yesterday but they seemed to be on a mission. The birds seemed to stay more on the refuge this year than any previous year.I guess with all the… Continue reading

Posted By: Greenhound Web Member 02-07-2007 16:49 – – – How about that new Mossy Oak Duck Blind camo? I think it’s the pattern to beat! Posted By: Greenhound Web Member 02-07-2007 00:45 – – – Dbercier did you ever get the info. back on where that crane was banded? I’m really eager to learn where cranes are banded. I got my band back from the mallard I shot in northern NM at Thanksgiving. I sent it to the bird band lab in MD and they were able to etch and raise two of the numbers that were worn off. A certificate should be here soon. – Greenhound Posted By: desert drake Guest 02-05-2007 06:46 – – – Well, duckbag, after Hester scored on the opening kickoff return, were you sucking air or screaming? Were you cussing? Bev and I were thinking about you while we watched the game and… Continue reading

Posted By: Greenhound Web Member 01-31-2007 11:13 – – – Well we got in one last goose hunt yesterday morning. Myself and three friends from TX headed to the goose field and had a pretty good shoot. We had four limits of canadas by 0800, 16 geese on the ground. Best part is 3 more were banded. So since Saturday, and in three days of hunting, two guys two days and four guys yesterday shot 27 canadas and 8 were banded. I assume they all came from CO, as the band number series were all the same as what we shot last year. Since last January, that is 19 banded birds that came off the fields I hunt. I know, I shouldn’t have written that but the odds really seem to be rare that should have happened. I know it was luck, I just hope it continues. Good luck to… Continue reading

Shot the daylights out of quackers in several varieties. It is so much fun to decoy hunt on upstream flood impoundments. Not a bunch of yahoos poaching off of your decoy spread like they do on the Rio south of Albuquerque. It was quite windy and the ducks would set up for landing from way out. Just a matter of being patient and letting the birds work in for attempted sit downs. A week of hunting here is more fun than a whole season in the Land of Enchantment.”Go Sooners”. Lots of them in the area, way more than last year. Three of us went up on the first go-up of the day and had 9 on the ground! 10 minutes later we were done. Posted By: duckbag Web Member 12-06-2006 11:42 Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 0-10 Degrees – Ice Hunted our goose spot for the first time this year and finished a two day hunt with 18 big Canadas. Two short of a limit. This is the earliest we’ve been into this spot and we saw at least 500+ geese. No ducks spotted at all. Hopefully they’ll be showing up soon. JD, your fields should be full by now with lots of banded birds!!! The farmer cut our milo down to the ground and chisel plowed, which kinda had our blinds sticking out a little. We had 40 yard shots all day long but didn’t take them, we wanted the landing gear down before firing. It was a lot of fun even with the 7 degree, 10mph, NE winds in the morning. SHOOT EM IN THE FACE!!! Posted By: John-Prentice Field Editor… Continue reading
