Completed some dove scouting today. This is the worst drought I have ever seen in my 62 years of scouting. There is zero water in creeks and ponds and potholes. Zero. Flow in Skunk and Iowa rivers is near zero. No flooding of places like Otter creek can take place with that low of flow. And from the drought maps south of Iowa it is worse. It would take weeks of rain to get anything built up. If you got water be really thankful. Any public area with water will be inundated with hunters. Like I said earlier, this is the year to take that trip to Canada and save the money you would spend hunting in Iowa Maybe I could lease a sewage treatment pond. What bad luck. We have a great hatch up north and no water from Iowa clear down the La. Bummer.

Here the dates be fella’s! There are a couple minor changes to this years reg’s you may want to look at. It’s getting closer…….39 days to be exact! I can’t wait! The cooler nights and mornings have really got the itch coming on. I had better find some good time to get some more work done on the rig here sooner than later. I need to lay off of the camping and stay at home working on the boat. Exciting year ahead….new boat, and a new dog. Let’s let the fun begin (providing we have water)!! JB

There has been a huge push of Pelicans over the last couple of days! I have witnessed thoudsands of them in the air and on bigger puddles by Runnells. The overlook there is 100% dry with not a drop of moisture in that area.

There’s been a push of bluewings since last Wed. Maybe on last nights cold front? Millet is doing well but didn’t get the rain I got at home last night.

The past 2 days we had about a 20 to 30 minute down poor in some spots….Enough to tease me, hopefully Good things to come with the weather trying to hit anywhere below 90 and more chances of rain keep popping up in the forecast. Can only hope
