July 16, 2003 – Migration Update

The results are in and the Adaptive Harvest Management (AHM) working group formulas suggest liberal frameworks for ALL flyways! Can we get a unified woo-hoo!

Hello, folks, and, as always, welcome to Waterfowler.com.

The dog days of summer may be upon us but it isn’t too early to start seriously thinking about ducks and geese. With the AHM formulas supporting a liberal season package and proposed early teal and goose seasons just around the corner, now is the time to gear up for the coming waterfowl season!

As we enter the countdown phase to opening day it’s time to begin plans about what-to-do, where-to-go and what-to-buy for the coming season. With the arrival of countless outdoor catalogs these past few weeks, duck and goose hunters are making their lists and checking them twice for early season shopping.

While Waterfowler.com’s Proshop is not as reader-friendly in the bathroom as most catalogs, we assure our deals are making friends on every purchase. MEMBERS are reminded to STOP AND SHOP the ProShop first to take advantage of their incredible savings opportunities before ordering elsewhere!

Keep in mind that the ProShop is open to the public and we invite our regular readers to shop in the ProShop, as the proceeds directly support the Hunting Reports and the Migration Mapping services at Waterfowler.com.

Goose hunters are urged to preorder their Graveyard Dead goose calls as soon as possible to insure delivery of the call before early goose seasons begin. These coveted calls are going fast and you don’t want to miss your chance to have this rockin’ call on your lanyard on opening day.

And now, on with our breeding report:

Positive news continues to trickle down form the Prairie Pothole Region and local hatch reports in the lower forty-eight are good to excellent in most states.

The uproar of cheers that met the results of the May Waterfowl Survey are continuing as the AHM working group has recommended liberal packages for all four flyways (report link below).

That said, it shouldn’t be long before USFWS announces the final frameworks and states can begin their final season proposals.

Readers are reminded to check their state hunting reports and message forums for proposed early waterfowl seasons and stay tuned for news from USFWS on the final frameworks.

Until next week, gear up today in the ProShop.
