I was down training the dog yesterday along Shinnecock bay yesterday. Didn’t see any new birds flying around just the same few black ducks I have seen all summer. Very few mallards and haven’t seen any teal. I will say the bay is loaded with bait… There has been very clean water, good habitat and very little trash all summer. It’s nice to see everyone’s hard work paying off. Take more than what you brought in. We have been taking trash out of the marsh every time we hunt and it really does make a difference. I’ll be working on the duck boat all weekend so when it comes time to scout I will be ready.

Well, guys it’s that time of year again. Me and a few of my friends hunted a recently disked corn field in watermill. The geese only flew for about an hour after first light. All groups were 3 to 8 birds, no big flocks. All birds were non vocal. 4 of us ended up killing 11 and missing a few other. It was nice to finally get out in the field in September and it actually be cool. Temp was around 60. Haven’t really seen many ducks yet. But I am all sure that will change soon. I will have scouting reports as soon as there is something to report. Busy right now getting the duck boat ready and painting decoys… George, I hope you had a good summer. You ready for another season?
