Though there were some really good days for us, there wasn’t much consistency. Hope we can get more week to week reporting next season. Be well. Posted By: Johnny Bravo Guest Upper Snake area 01-29-2008 15:58 – – – Overall a fairly slow season. Birds at times but very spotty. I hunted the Snake river the last day and shot a limit of drake goldeneyes and 1 greenhead. Dog had fun. COLD AS HECK! Great time and I am thankful I have he opportunity to hunt! Thanks everyone for the reporting and have a great winter. Got a few passing shots at Goldeneyes. Saw lots of birds simply rafted up around the islands, but nothing moving to speak of. Not hearing other shots, either. When we left Boise it was 31, but down there it was between 43 and 48 all day. Posted By: DuckCollar Guest Just getting ready 09-06-2007 15:07 – – – Well I haven’t posted on here in almost a year. I was looking back and I see my buddy posted about my accident that took place on the opening day of duck season October 14th. I was going to ask if anyone saw my picture on the front of the Idaho statesman. It is a picture of me and my buddy with three limits of ducks and my black lab. I’m in a wheelchair right now but I’m not going to let that keep me from going hunting. I bought a Lowe Roughneck at the beginning of last season, this is going to be the easiest way for me to get out. I’m currently putting a cabelas marsh grass blind on it and my dad has built me a ramp so it’s easier for me to get in… Continue reading

Posted By: Johnny Bravo Guest Northeastern Idaho 01-04-2007 12:15 Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 30-34 Degrees – Ice I did a waterfowl survey flight over all water bodies in northeastern Idaho yesterday. Snake River (N. and S. Fork), Teton River (N. and S. Fork), Mud lake, Market Lake, Island Park Res, Sheridan Res, Ashton Res, Buffalo River. I saw over 10,000 ducks and geese. Most the birds are in areas with little or no access. If the area does not have boat access (between diversion dams, etc.) it is loaded w/ waterfowl. Long spans of river with private surrounding are holding 100’s of greenheads and honkers. Too bad nobody talks on this field report. I have some great information for people that would just ask. JB Posted By: rntcaller Guest 12-28-2006 21:48 – – – I am looking some seriouse goose hunters. I am going to start a goose club.… Continue reading

Posted By: honkercrazy Web Member Lake Lowell 12-08-2006 19:59 Mostly Sunny, No Precipitation – 30-34 Degrees – Ice There are plenty of Mallards using Lake Lowell. It is pretty well frozen over where i was at. But it looks like the ducks and geese have kept an open hole of water out in the middle. I tried standing on the ice and pass shooting as they headed out to the fields to feed. But since there was no wind and no fog to keep them down most of them were too high even for heavy shot. I did get a couple of shots at a few that came out lower than the rest but unfortunately i missed. It appears that there are alot more ducks on the lake this year than there was at this time last year. I was impressed with the number of ducks i saw and have… Continue reading

Posted By: Johnny Bravo Guest North Fork Snake River 11-15-2006 13:05 Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water Went scouting this morning. Looks like a few mallards are on the river in small groups (6-12). A bunch of Canada Geese on gravel ponds throughout the valley. Feeding in numerous fields and roosting on safe zones (no hunting areas). A few green-winged teal on a small pond mixed with widgeon. Too much open water right now to concentrate or push birds.
