Posted By: coldkiller Web Member Sledge 12-18-2006 08:39 Cloudy, Heavy Fog – 60-65 Degrees Friday we had a great hunt.We limited out on Ducks.We killed over 40 snows,blues.We also had a visit from the Feds on friday checking everybody on our lease.One young kid got a ticket for not signing his federal stamp.The fed wrote him a ticket,took his picture of him.He also took a pic of his gun wrote the serial # down as well.He also took his 3 green heads. If someone leaves your blind they need to either take their ducks are tag them with name and license information.They also checked several other places in the area.There are 6 USFWS agents in that area at this time.If i were you i would be very careful about everything.Some hunters were still shooting way after 5 pm on Saturday. We should have limited out but there was a ton of people. Someone started the shooting about 20 minutes early and the ducks where up and moving out. We had some good groups of teal and gadwalls that worked. We shot some teal and shovelers and gadwall but were limited due to the pressure. My son did however kill a canada goose. From what i’ve heard is that mahanna is holding good numbers of gadwall and widgeon with a few teal. Catfish ponds in the delta are seeing a rise in birds. Mostly ring necks and scaup with some smiling mallards and teal. A few mallards have been reported to me but nothing in any numbers yet. With the cold weather forcasted next week in the dakota’s and minnesota that should push more birds into the area. It looks as though we are about two weeks ahead of schedule at this time of the season. As for south mississippi woodducks are on the rise. There is great numbers of doves also being reported. From about Hwy 34 South in Iowa it is snow free in the fields unless today’s snow is cover some of it up.
