I have a report. I was above Douglas a few days ago and got 4 geese and the person I was with got 4. I have family up in Mn. They said there are still ducks and geese there not a whole lot like a week ago but still a lot, so I think they are slowly coming down still, hunting in Mn. has been slow and they are not getting pushed down. Now up by Douglas there were some geese but not a whole lot we seen about 400 to 600 birds some would come in but others know where they wanted to go. Now can someone give me a report on the snow at Springer area please the snow at douglas was not bad but still some and you still have to watch where you drive getting a little muddy in some places. I have been trying to contact someone I know in Lusk to see when the geese start getting in, if I get it I will post it.

Finalflight,
I wish I had a good report on the Springer/Yoder area, but I have been scouting out that way and it is bleak to put it mildly. I work with people that live in Yoder and they report seeing very few to NO geese at all. I went by Springer/Yoder tonight at 4:00 PM, and saw no geese at all. The geese we have in the Torrington area are on the river, and are very patterned right now. Seem to be heading north of refuge by Lingle and north of torrington. Don’t really know about the duckin, as I wimped out last weekend. Last time I went I got two ducks and was on the river till noon. All in all, it seems pretty slow.

Has anyone been hunting or scouting around the Yoder/Springer area? Is there any geese left in the country? How about ducks, has anybody seen a duck in the past month? Any information would be much appriciated. I have just been waiting on the snows to get here. Speaking of snow how much is left up in that part of the woods. Thanks for any info, hunters.

Sir yes I understand in what you have said. But skybusting is against the law in many ways it is just to hard to prove in court. I am not saying anyone here is one of these people in no way I think and know you all have seen this and at time has hurt your hunts. Skybusting cripples the birds and the law says once you hit a bird you must make every thing possibale to get that bird. My friend Steve at the head Qts, in Cheyenne said if someone shoots a goose or bird once it is hit, it counts as your limit even if you do not find it if it comes down it is on your limit and you know like myself this happen a lot. read what I had put a while back about the Regs. and what they say. Now yes I agree they need more water up all over there this will help spead out the hunters but I have been hunting geese for over 25 years now geese do not really need water all geese on Table go to pond one even when there is water all over, but the water freezes and no water the geese still will stay around as long as there is feed. I have gotten geese my limit over a dry pond. As long as they see the decoys and come right over with in shooting range. Ducks seem to need water yes. But I think all these peopl need to get together they have meating to get together and work with these things we need to do. At one time skybusting was and did come with a fine but like I said to hard to prove this I will do what I can and take a camera or cam corder and tape these things going on so the G and F will have there profe I do not know about anyone else but I have found the geese now and I am getting them if anyone finds the same place great but the first skybuster say cheese and I hope you all will do the same. I don’t want to fight with anyone but these excuses need to stop. It is all about the animals respect them and other hunters and this is also what this site is for to get a piont by and to let others know and try to do something to make things better.

Glaubsgoose. I understand the Wyoming Game & Fish has limited resources, but if the lack of water causes the geeses to quit stopping over here, what is the economic impact of lost license revenues with less hunters and the dollars spent for food, lodging etc? Skybusting is not against the law and would be impossible to enforce if it was! Is it unsportsmen like and unethical YES. You can not judge what others will do based on your your standards, the offenders you are talking about do not belong to this website or any other conservation organazation. My guess is they also have not invested in decoys, dogs or the proper equipment as you have, they are just coming out to bust a few caps and get big kicks out of rocking a few birds. There are solutions to this problem, such as proper sign in when hunting the area and maybe you can not just show up to pass shoot, but have to hunt over decoys with a limited number of hunters allowed in each area.Bottom line it will only get worse but without water no one will be hunting!

I am all for a meeting to stop sky busting. I feel if things are done right all can hunt at tables that wants to. I feel if all hunters work together and respect the others. I feel on pond two there can be at least three set ups of decoys the first one there gets his pick where I have been late and taken the vey end of this pond and the geese will come in to the others first I just take left overs with my decoys. Pond three can hold about 3 sets of decoys. A lot of people sit on the diek at pond one if that had water in it maybe two set can be on the shooting side. The Game and Fish can only do so much, here in Wyoming there is just not enough funds as a state like New York or Min. so it is harder to protect here what is going on. about the water it is some of these rachers that hold back the water that stops Table from getting water and if this coming year is like last it will be the same. I wish there was a way to sent water from the river to Table, Bump, and Spriner. But this would cost more than the Game and Fish can handle, maybe some help from Ducks Unlimited can do it I do not know. but geese really do not need that much water, they need feed and not to be to pressured by sky busters. Also I say Pheasant hunter can hunt but they need to understand when there is someone duck or goose hunting stay away. Hunt the pheasants and leave the ducks and geese alone. I beleive if it done right all can be happy. there are many places for pheasant hunter to hunt and yet stay away from the goose hunter. Or do as I do. If I hunt pheasant up there I wear a orange hat and when I see ducks or geese that want to come in I get down on the ground hide my orange hat under myself and have been close to duck hunters and they have gotten ducks. I always have them thank me because of what I did and alowed them to hunt as for myself. It is just funny the geese can be thought things like to stay away from some areas but a hunter can not be thought to be respectful of others is really the big problem at Table or any other public place. They let any Tom, Dick or Jane hunt and they do not know what they are doing. I have seen people walk and walk with out a dog for pheasants forget it you need that dog and it should be trained right. I have seen dogs out one time a Bulldog this guy was useing come on these are the people that should not be there they know not what they do. I know Pheasant and waterfowl hunts can hunt if people would just use their heads. It is just most people buy camo or orange and a gun some shotshells and think they are a hunter. I have seen people up there and a bird get up but between two people and one guy shoots anyway with the other just on the other side of the bird. What are you Dick Chainny. People just need to watch tapes, study how each hunting is done, do something. There is just to many stupid people out there not to many hunter just to many stupid people.

Well if you are really interested in finding a solution the Wyoming Game commisioner Ron Lovercheck lives in Goshen county, I suggest we arrange a meeting with him to explore any possible solutions. It would at the very least a interesting discussion.
