Sorry about the misspelling I hit a the wrong key and seen it after I posted it this matter just p–ses me off respect others or pay the cost. We Hunters need to get together and do something about this. Do you know it is illegal to pass shot or shy bust it is just to hard to prove in court now with Video cams out there I think I will start taken it just to get these sky busters tape for the prof look in the REGS. see the part with the geese at the end of the gun this tells you when to shot and when not to shot for steel shot. Again sorry about the mis key and spelling it just ticks me off and I write out of anger.

To vogibear and markragsdale.

Yes I had a few hunts at Table that I had smaller flock of decoys but was bringing in the geese I sat in the cat tails and a flock came in low 4 foot off and 30 yards out so bam I got one, so after I called another flock in they coming right to me and 45 yards out they V off then a second flock and then another. I got up to se if my decoys had fallin over because of the wind and no but then i looked around and with in 25 yards was this guy from Torrington with #7 plates I found out later open coat with orange insde with a dog running around. I yelled at him and told hi mnot to shot out of my decoys. Now if he would have asked yes I would have let him in the weeds with me but he was an ass about it and chased off these flocks he said it is a public hunting place and he can do what ever he wants. This is find any flock that seemed to want to come in I jumped up and shot out of range before they got there if I di not have a chance because of this guy he would not. After a while the geese still wanted in my decoy or at least fly over some some other hunter that had decoys up came close to me. GO PLAY FOOLS you got your own decoy use them. As the day goes by these hunters came back for the after noon shot after a while they moved away and I got a few more geese. I do not care if I get my limit I just out with the dog and have fun. After I shot my last goose 2 min before shooting was to end I started to pick up my decoys this took about 20 min. these hunters where still shooting geese after shooting time look at ht eregs they state what time to shot. Well I deal with Game and Fish a lot and know much of the people with Game and Fish and yes I will turn them in a poacher and this is just what they were doing poaching. I got my decoys picked up and walked back to the truck and they still were shooting it is at least 30 min. after shooting time now. The guy with no decoys that was behind me even after I took down all the lic. numbers on all the plates was now even walking back and this is after I put every thing away in my truck this is bad people like this will take away the all day shots if this goes on and this will hurt the real goose hunters. Now I checked with a man I know at the main office at Game and Fish yes it is a public hunting area but when another hunter hunts out of anothers decoy or is with in a 100 yards this is Harrassment and can be sited for it. When someone up at Table shots a goose or bird it is on there limit and if someone steels it it still counts as yours and if he steels it you are alowed four more no matter what by law and regs. Now these people that shot out of my decoys were up again and got away from me this time but a Upland game bird hunter was walking and shot a goose flting by one of these goose hunter stole his goose I seen it and reported it this is thieft and can be chanrged with it. But this guy that stole the goose his wife got 5 that morning. WHY take someone elses. SYOP the sky busting and pass shotting the Geese will stat around a lot longer. We as hunters the real hunters must turn in the ones that are doing wrong. Did you know most poachers are caught by someone turning them in and not from a warden seeing them so lets all get together and do something to save our hunting please. I can se if someone may shot 5 min. past if there watch is off or something but this 20 min to 30 min will stop and I have been in touch with the game and fish and they are watching close now. I came across three game and fish people they were hunting geese and ducks and they go there a lot not just to hunt but to get the poachers and harrassing people. I know most of you are the real deal hunters but these few that make it bad for the rest has to be stopped. Last year there was over 30 tickets given out there and more is coming. I want a happy hunt for all and like on pond three there can be three sets of decoys but think don’t shot just to shot you can shot and also let other shot with you if you do it right and no fights will happen. Pound two can hold three sets of decoys the north side and south and the west do it right please. Now this letter is not pointed at the ones I wrote this to I do not know who you are I just want to get the word out and ask for help from these poachers and harrassing people.

Glaubsgoose,
I’m not sure I understand your entire post, but if you’re talking about fellow hunters respecting each others space, I totally agree. 100 yards is still too close. I don’t hunt Table much but I hunt other public areas and I try to respect other hunter’s space if they are there first. What gets me is when I am the first to set up in a spot and someone comes up and sets up 200 yards of so from me. I really don’t understand this way of thinking. It confuses the birds and is a safety issue. I hope you’re right about more geese following these white barred geese from the north. We need some fresh geese, while out today I counted 10 spreads along the Platte between Torrington and Lingle. These birds are seeing it all.

This is a report and a message————The last two year about this time there has been a new Canada goose I reported this goose to Game and fish and a few sporting goods stores. It most noticable marking is a white bar or band accrossed the chest, it his is a Glaub’s Goose subspecies of a Canada goose. Geese not being at Torrington and Springer now do not worry these birds I write about are still up north and after they come though there is more Canada geese to follow as the way it has been the last two years. So it might be a few weeks but there should be some coming I just hope at table there is no sky busting or shooting out of others decoys. Lets see some respect and I found out from the Game and Fish today if someone is in shooting range a 100 yards from someone that has decoys up and you shot out of those and that area it is a harrasment charges can and will be brought up, yes this is a public place but there are rules to this also not to hunt to close to another and hey do not shot any geese past shooting hours look at you regs. don’t go past them we are watching… We got the all day shots on some days but some people think they can shot until dark this is not true in any way, there is a times to shot in hours in the regs. read this and follow it, there will be not exceptions and if you do this you will be caught sooner or later.

I have also hunted Goshen for A long time. Huntin around Springer usually is the safe and best bet, but the wind and the snow usually changes things, usually your still safe huntin close but i have found the birds move into pastures and alot of places that no self respectin goose would never even look at, and no hunter would either just look for spots that have blown clear. Table and suronnding areas are usually better the later it gets, it always gets warmer and the geese pour in there i think they come from Morrill but thats just me. If you can get a bite on huntin south of the resovior (hawksprings) that to is always good so happy huntin!! Im in on a Colo lease and doin good but my heart us in Goshen.

Good advice Final Flight, I totally agree. The key thing you said is in a normal year. This year sure is not normal. I have hunted almost every weekend this season is Goshen County, and all I can say is it is tough. The Yoder area went from having a few birds to almost nothing, drifts and snow have covered up fields. I have numerous areas to hunt that way, and have scouted twice in the past two weeks between 3:00 and 4:30 PM, and saw 5 geese. I’m sure there a few on Springer still but I sure haven’t found em. The river geese are a whole other story. Geese been lifting off refuge and heading straight north most of time. I have saw geese fly right over my house in Torrington to the north for quite some time. Every now and then the river geese head other directions, but the weather has flat screwed up normal patterns. I really think we are screwed for geese until we get a strong northern blast to get the birds out of Montana. Ragsdale, where is Rawhide creek, is it north of Lingle? I have noticed the geese in Nebraska are heading north also, I think the fields are more open to the north in our area due the the snow we recently received. Good luck to all and hope for a NORTHERNER.

well Markragsdale, My dad and i have hunted Goshen County for a long time, back in the days where you had to go to the Springr check-in station and wait for your name to be drawn so you could pick which blind you wanted to hunt out of that day. That was when Bump Sullivan had water in it, and the Game and Fish had the managed goose hunt. We have been hunting walk-ins and other public recreation areas since “Bump” went dry. We have killed 60+ geese every year consistently for o maybe the last 10 years off of public land. So my suggestion would be: Stay south of Torrington, If you can stay close to Springer Res. (with in a 3-5 mile radius in any direction.) If you cant do that try and stay east of Springer, no furtur north than Yoder And no furtur south than Hawk Springs. Yet anywhere between the Rawhide refuge and Springer is good too, But from my observations you have to stay on the west side of HWY 85. Keep in mind, What I’am telling you is on a average year. When the geese are here in good numbers. So this info may not applie this year, with all the freak weather we have been having. To be honest I have not had that much luck on the river for geese, but not bad luck for the ducks. So there you have it man. Thats really about all i can tell you. The rest is up to you. So pattern the geese and then plan an ambush on them and them WACK ‘EM & STACK ‘EM!!!! Good luck to you!

Mostly Sunny, No Precipitation – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water
Hunted Rawhide Creek near Lingle. Saw alot of Cans flying east to west right before dark. I’m new to hunting this area and have not had alot of luck. Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

No,No, I was just saying I Probably wont hunt canada geese the rest of this year and just wait for the snow geese to come back though. Unless something happens to where for some odd reason the canadians come back. Did you see a whole lot of birds Ragsdale? And about where were you hunting if you dont mind me asking? Thanks for the report man
