Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – Over 70 Degrees
Starting to see signs of life from the resident geese. Hopefully they provide us with some early season action to get tuned up for the main season.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 35-40 Degrees
Hunted the Assawomen Bay the Day after Xmass with a friend from South Carolina (his first diver hunt). Couldnt believe the number of mallards in the area. All the ponds were full. Shot 9 Buffels and rolled a dozen more but they flew away, you know the drill. The lotto was packed (9) parties, for the beach thats a sell out crowd. According to the draw stats the birds are there. Will be returning soon for another round.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 30-34 Degrees – Open Water
Hunted the River last week in the “Augustine Area”. 2 Mallards, 1 Black and a Teal. Several Buffels few through but we missed poorly. Saw hundreds of big birds working the shore lines and bars. Hope it freezes up soon, thats when then fun starts.

Where The Wind Was BLOWING 12-31-2008 20:55
Cloudy, High Winds – 35-40 Degrees
The wind was blowing, blowing and blowing harder. Scratched out a mixed bag of ducks, Canadas, and Snow Geese. Fun by all unless you had to stick your head out of the pit or actually get out of the pit. One group of ducks locked up and took 18 mins to hit the spread. I think the wind was gusting at 189MPH at one point. Good luck if you had any decoys that were not staked down because I am sure they ended up in the ocean eventually. Yes, the wind was blowing that hard.

Cloudy, Winds Calm – 35-40 Degrees
Just so Mike is not lonely.
Over the course of a long morning, saw maybe 100 mallards. Guy in the next blind shot a pintail.
Canadas are decoying in pairs. Based upon how thin the ones we shot are, they must be migrating geese. Shot one last week that was as fat as your mama so I expect it was a local bird.

Cloudy, Occassional Rain Showers – 35-40 Degrees
Tons of Canada’s in the area. Not as many ducks as I would have hoped to see. Many more black ducks than normal though. Did get a banded mallard. All in all a fun day for all as we scratch off a few ducks here and there all day with one snow and one canada. Again, duck numbers seemed low considering the weather.

Very few ducks in general some flocks of mallards. Some diving ducks.
Heard from a couple of sources that some guys in the past few days had hunted some roosting areas. Could explain small number of ducks; during calm winds, they may have laid up on the river.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 40-45 Degrees
Standard-issue flight of snow geese with premeditated destinations flying westward.
Canada Goose flight was decent, but flocks were large groups that I’d prefer not to bust into.
Duck flight was exceptional… before shooting time.
