We agree with that notion of never leaving too early. Started Saturday by taking 4 out of 5 geese in an early flock. My son and I had to leave at 9am. Two other guys stayed behind. Saw no more birds until they started picking up at 10am. After guns were unloaded and only a few dekes still out, flock of 30 geese landed in pond while they were standing in the pasture. OUCH!

We’ll get even this weekend. Plan to hunt a local golf course that has just closed. Bringing suntan lotion, lounge chair, set of clubs, and a golf umbrella. All in camo pattern, of course.

Even though Richie was begining to doubt, I did bring in the ducks,if only we could shoot we would have glutted ourselves with game.

The good news is we weren’t skunked and we left some wildlife for next time. Funny how most of the of the birds come in as we are picking up our gear. Hence our new creed…” Never unload, never pick up and never go home.”

Sunny & Clear, Morning Fog – 50-60 Degrees

Saturday morning slowly. We bagged a lone black duck that came in just after legal shooting time. After that, the ducks we saw were high and spooky.
Luckily the Canada geese didn’t disappoint. Two of us took limits from two different flocks that couldn’t resist our spread. Another good morning in the field. Hunt safe.

Dear Santa: All we want for X-Mass is to come home dripping with game. Please send down some ducks from the North Pole to assist us in our quest.

Thank you Mallard Man for ending a long drought by cleaning up that Mallard hen(the only shot taken in two days!).

Nice start to second half. Decent number of mallards around. Minor cold front may have brought some birds in. Lots of geese in corn fields. Two of us ended up with a limit of 4 geese, as well as 4 mallards and a black duck. Got all four geese out of a flock of 15 that decoyed right in over the water spread. Gave the dog some work! Good way to start the thanksgiving weekend.

Dear Friends: Another first in a long line of firsts. I had scouted this area for a while and found that Mallars (30) had been coming in from the woods across the corn field into a small pond. I set up a blind at the far edge of the corn field and about five minuets before leagal time a group fo four came right over me at 30 yards. It looks like my scouting has paid off and I’m going to be in for a good day…. but wait, whats this that has just arrived and is wondering around the middle of the field 60 yards in front of my blind wearing BLAZE F’n orange?! Is it a pheasant hunter? Well if it is go hunt your stupid pheasants and get out of the center of the field. If you can’t do that get down and take some cover at the very minimum take your orange vest off as your flaring birds as far away as Massachusetts. I know he knows were I am because I’m screaming and flashing my light but he seems to be oblivious. All of a sudden Mr. Pheasant Hunter decieds to join the Waterfowl Fraternity and begins to blast away at the birds as they come across the field. He must be confident in his marksmanship abilities too because he trying to reach out at targets 60+ yards over his head. Oh, and by the looks of my watch we still have a couple of minuets to go! Thats when I packed it in. PS. Richie I saw your post, seeing how Atky is out after deer give me a call and we’ll go Pheasant(ooops!), I mean duckn’ I know a great spot in Wallingford but you’ll have to keep it on the Q.T. Over and out TUD.
