Saw about 50 big ducks, mallards I presume and few divers. Some geese as well. Ducks were skiddish but did decoy.

Sunny & Clear, Winds Calm – 50-60 Degrees
Hunted on the Flint Sat. morning and only saw 9 woodies, did manage to pull a pair down though. I heard two groups of geese but never saw them. I hope that this weather will cool off and the hunting get better. I am trying Tuesday morning again. Good luck everyone.

ok guys duck hunting 101 here, for the first group of guys that came up the lake when you show up and someone is already in the hole and they hit you with the Q-beam it means “hey i’m here, you need to move off”. it does not mean come closer and set up. would have liked to have flushed that duck that was on the water (between us) early but it is Xmas and i didn’t think you would like to feel of the 3.5’s. Safety and fair play come first guys.

Lesson 2 to the group that did seem to see either my Q-beam or my hunting partners for the morning. when ducks are working someone’s blocks as they were ours and i say ours because we surely had that section of the lake covered. Don’t go blowing your calls non-stop. it screws everyone.

Now to the report. Not may ducks on the lake. Missed on a pair of mallards that i probably shouldn’t have pulled the trigger on but i needed to vent some frustration. My parnters appeared to miss early but i could be wrong. Also heard a couple of shots from down the lake a bit. saw 15-20 sand hills that were roosted. no geese. no divers that i saw. rather disappointing. Oh well thats georgia.

what’s the worst thing about this weather???? a little thing called the un-educated bass fisherman or b#@s hole as i like to call them. hit the lake sunday. not much shooting from what i heard. course there was no way i was going to have any thanks to mister fisherman and his buddy that decided to park 75 yards off my blocks and fish all morning (oh yes they saw me). at least they caught one…yes one fish in two hours time or else i would have been mifted that they couldn’t pass up such an obvious honey hole.

Didn’t see many birds. heard some shots arond 9:15 as i was leaving but those were it. we need cold and we need lots of it.

Public service annoucement for those of you that hunt the lake. the cherokee mills ramp is basically done for the year. the corp will probably close it soon anyway but it was a bear getting in and out it was so shallow.

did see some buffies on a local pond during work yesterday. so we have had some sort of migration. still not seeing a lot of ducks around though. not many geese in the usual spots either. hopefully santa brings us some snow and ice because it looks like i am gonna have to break out the teal season gear for my hunt this sunday.
