Moved to Northern Illinois to be near the upper Mississippi River Refuge and all of the great hunting. Incredible numbers of Canadas and puddle ducks. Filled out by 8:15 on both. Four mallard drakes and two gadwalls, and a limit of geese. Chewy and I just sat and watched the show for a couple more hours as the birds just covered the river. Was successful though and at $19.50 for 1/2 Dozen if those weighted dekes I think I got a deal on them. Was a close out they are not selling them in the future. Next step, taking inventory tomorrow of all Decoys, repainting them and riggin some Texas Rigs as well as adding some long lines. Will probably need some Canvasbacks for those divers over at Guntersville, other than that we should be good to go..The plan is beginning to take shape , with new 25HP Yamaha motor, Flyway specialties blind is on the boat, dog is working good on blind retrieves at Lake Lanier. Hunted in missouri the rest of the week saw an ungodly amount of birds until the weekend came and it froze everything up. Killed pintails mallards speks weigon and of course a handful of spoonies. The geese snuck up on us and busted us. Also seen 6 really high UFD(unidentified flying ducks) pm Hunted a swamp with some timber was able to take a 5 woodies before legal shooting was up and after that we just stood at ahh watching the evening flights come into roost. saw in all 150-200 woodies few mallards. OF OCTOBER. THE WARM WEATHER MUST A HAVE BACKED THEM UP A FEW DAY’S. WE HAVE HAD ALOT OF BIRDS ARRIVE THIS WEEK STARTING MONDAY THE 22ND. WIDE VARIETY OF DUCKS, SNOWS AND WHITE FRONTED GEESE. IT RAINED THE FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER SO AS THE OLD SAYING GOES WE ARE ON TRACK TO GET 15 DAYS OF RAIN THIS MONTH. CACHE RIVER, BAYOU DEVIEW AND SOURROUNDING AREAS SHOULD BE VERY GOOD OPENIONG WEEK!!!
