Tuesday was pretty slow but managed to shoot 9.. Ducks only flew when the wind blew really hard… Good luck on the rest of the season…

Once again, very few ducks. We shot a couple, but only saw about 15 ducks.
Some on the St. Jones River did better, someone even shot a mute swan, but overall, no one did well near the top of the bay.

Got some friends coming in From MI to hunt this week so we are pullin gout all the stops and going to burn the places that we have been saving. Hoping that front coming across the country will help us out a little. we have a few places holding a right good numbers of birds mostly puddle ducks and canada geese butt heir movements have been spotty or even hit or miss sometimes and these places have had no hunting pressure what so ever, oh well its the last week time to do some damage, good luck boys get ya some cuz it the season is bout gone and wont be back for a long time with a lot to change next year, good luck to all.

Mostly Cloudy, No Precipitation – 50-60 Degrees
Put out the big spread and had geese all morning in the decoys. Steady flight from 8:00am clear through 12:00 noon. Big flocks, small flocks, singles, pairs, etc.

Saw nine mallards all day.
Yesterday, quite a few ducks were seen in the afternoon, but I guess they all went south (or north based upon the warm weather).

Sunny & Clear, High Winds – 35-40 Degrees
Manage 4 ducks today. 1 black, 1 pintail and two mallards. Actually a quite a few birds flying and work. Had trouble hitting at first and had to leave early letting them fly. Our party did get a banded mallard!!!

Hunted the bay in a layout rig. What a hoot. 4 of us limited out mostly all buffleheads with some old squaw and a Scoooter for good measure.
saw a number of snows and canada’s flying high to and from the refuges.
it got warm Sunday and then tough rain and wind moved in late sunday and today.

hunted the pit again on friday afternoon in the rain showers, the 2 of us set up around 11 and had our limit of mallards and blacks by 1230 which was good considering the rain stopped by 1pm and so did the birds like a light switch. Saw a great canada goose push during the rain of birds headed out of the hook to feed, probably the best push I have seen all year by black geese as Jerry mentioned. Birds did not want to work other hunters in the areas they seemed to be interested in their flags but once the calls started the went on further west. We managed all small groups of birds mostly pairs with a flock of 7 blacks coming in and we scratched out our 2. other then that there were no large flocks seen. Possibly due to us setting up late but we were both under the weather and didnt want to sit in the rain for too long so we let it start raining for sure and then made a quick dash out to the pit.
Seems like some colder temps are suppose to push in this week but still remain rather warm during the days, hate to say it but this season is pretty much shot, gonna have to make due with what we got,

The weather coming in a lot later than predicted had a huge effect on our hunt. Unfortunately with the skys clear or with very thin cloud cover most of the night on Thursday, the birds felt safe roosting elsewhere and provided the opposite flight pattern we were anticipating.
We saw a very large concentration of puddle ducks most of the morning. The canada goose flight in this area was also pretty substantial despite previous reports. The birds seemed to be in larger than normal groups while exiting the roosts.
